Chickens are major sources of human nutrition worldwide, but the chicken intestinal microbiota can be a source of bacterial infection. The microbiota has potential to regulate the colonization of pathogens by competitive exclusion, production of antimicrobial compounds, and stimulation of the mucosal immune system.

Straw is a beneficial enrichment material for pigs, shown to improve welfare through reducing tail biting. Straw has previously been identified as one of the means of how to raise pigs without tail docking, through improving natural exploratory behaviour. Straw has however been linked to poor pen hygiene, making farmers reluctant to use straw and has largely not been implemented in commercial farming worldwide.

Human- animal relationships are subjected to two primary dimensions: those of affection and utility, which combine together to give a proper shape in animal welfare often expressed in commercial terms when farmers are involved in running a business on livestock. The present study was carried out in purposively selected commercial small holders‟ dairy farms in and around Guwahati under Kamrup (Metro) District of Assam. A total of 60 dairy farmers were selected based on apparently similar shed and animals following minimum scientific management.

The study aims at identifying the potential role of Indian farmwomen in fruit based production system along with realising their constraints which limits their considerable contribution in terms of technology application, use of agri-inputs and commercial marketing. The magnitude of their participation is hardly visualized, which creates perceptible gender gap. The emerging issues of farmer suicide, rural-urban migration of male members and disenchantment of rural youth in agriculture, overburden the Indian farmwomen with farming activities.

Poultry production in India has taken a quantum leap in the last four decades, emerging from an entirely unorganized and unscientific farming practice to a commercial production system with state-of-the-art technological interventions. Indian commercial poultry sector has advanced remarkably due to a scientific approach adopted by the industry and an enabling environment created by the Government.

Growth performance of emu birds was evaluated with respect to season to assess the bird’s average daily weight gain from starter to slaughter weight maintained under intensive farming system. Study was done on a total flock size of 1000(n) birds at a commercial farm near Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh for 57 weeks closely associated different seasonal conditions. Emus are reared under in open sided within fenced areas in the tropical countries, any variation in the climatic conditions would greatly impact on their production.

Adoption level of improved goat farming technologies by commercial goat farmers in Tamil Nadu, India
A study was undertaken to assess the adoption level of commercial goat farmers under semi-intensive and intensive systems of management in Tamil Nadu. To this survey, a sample of 120 commercial goat farmers (20 farmers from each district) was selected randomly from 6 districts of Tamil Nadu. Data revealed that, overall 46.67 per cent of the commercial goat farmers had medium level of adoption of improved goat farming practices, followed by high (33.33 %) and low (20.00 %) extent of adoption

Potato is one of the most important commercial vegetable crops in India and on an average this crop is affected by weeds damage which should be prevented by various control methods. Cultural operations and mulches are non-chemical methods of weed control in sustainable agricultural systems. The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of chemical and non-chemical control methods on weeds and yield of potato crop.

Aqua cultural production is a major industry in many countries, and it will continue to grow as the demand for fisheries products increases and the supply from natural sources decreases. Good nutrition in animal production systems is essential to economical production of a healthy, high-quality product. In fish farming (aquaculture), nutrition is critical because feed typically represents approximately 50 percent of the variable production cost.

The present study was conducted in Kakopather and Marghertia blocks of Tinsukia district of Assam. With the interventions of the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) project during the past 3 years i.e. 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18, a perceptible improvement in the crop productivity has been observed. With the focussed programmes and introduction of new technologies, the way of farming is transforming from subsistence low-input low-output production system to commercialization.

In addition to documenting the uptake and diffusion of the three GGDP-generated maize technologies, this case study provides valuable insights about the many factors that can affect the adoption of agricultural innovations in general. The survey results show that adoption of improved production technology is directly influenced by three sets of factors: (1) characteristics of the technology (e.g., complexity, profitability, riskiness, divisibility, compatibility with other technologies); (2) characteristics of the farming environment (e.g.

In Pakistan, a two-tiered action plan is required: to develop systems, which provide profitability for the smallholder and maintain quality through the supply chain, while assisting the development of larger scale commercial farms. We believe the co-existence of both kinds of farms is the reality of dairying in Pakistan and development efforts must provide solutions for both smallholders and commercial farmers. The Chinese model of farm development may provide a good example. Milk production in China is very diverse.
