The objective of the study was to determine the effect of increasing the ratio of SID TSAA to Lys in broiler chicks diets for 1 to 14 d of age on growth performance, efficiency of Lys utilization, caloric efficiency and carcass characteristics. In this study, 400 day-old straight-run Ross 308 broiler chicks sourced from a commercial hatchery were randomly allotted into 5 treatments following a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD).

In this study, 400 day-old straight-run Cobb 500 broiler chicks sourced from a commercial hatchery were randomly allotted to treatment following a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The treatments used were fivve ratios of SID Lysine (Lys) to metabilizable energy (ME) in diet of 3.61, 3.89, 4.17, 4.45, or 4.73 g SID Lys/Mcal ME.

Southern flounder, Paralichthys lethostigma, historically support a substantial fishery along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the southern United States. Low year-class strengths over the past few years in the western Gulf of Mexico have raised concern that spawning stocks may be overfished. Current management of the resource includes releasing hatchery-raised juveniles to restock bays and estuaries; additionally, there is a growing interest in the potential for commercial aquaculture of the species.

A study was conducted to estimate the effect of supplementing diets with vitamin C and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) on hematological parameters and carcass traits of broiler at hot weather. Two hundred and forty (240), day-old vaccinated commercial broiler chicks were procured from a private hatchery located at Hisar, Haryana, India.

The present investigation entitled Performance of feeding Azolla (Azolla pinnata) meal on body weight gain and dressing percentage of Vanraja poultry birds was carried out to assess the effect of feeding Azolla meal on body weight and dressing percentage of Vanraja poultry bird’s production. One hundred and fifty chicks of day old straight run commercial Vanraja birds were procured Matoshri Distributors, Amravati Hatchery. They were randomly and equally distributed into five treatment groups T1, T2, T3, T4, and T5 with 30 numbers of chicks in each group.

An experiment was carried out to evaluate the carcass characteristics of broiler chicken fed with different levels of Sheep manure with or without enzyme supplementation. A total of 210 broiler chicks were procured from commercial hatchery and brooded under uniform managemental condition for one week. On 8th day the chicks were distributed into five treatment groups viz. T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5 containing 42 chicks in each which were subdivided into three replicates of 14 chicks each.

In commercial broiler hatcheries, chicks hatch over a period of 20–36 hours. The chicks are removed from the hatch tray of the incubator after a majority of them have cleared from the eggshell. Then, the chicks undergo various hatchery practices like sexing, vaccination, packaging, and transport before they are placed in a commercial broiler farm. Thus, under practical conditions, chicks remain deprived of feed and water for about 48– 72 hours after hatching.

Coldwater disease (CWD) is a bacterial disease that affects a broad host-species range of fishes that inhabit cold, fresh waters. This disease occurs predominately at water temperatures of 16 C and below, and is most prevalent and severe at 10 C and below. Coldwater disease occurs in cultured and free-ranging populations, with hatchery-reared young trout and salmon species especially vulnerable to infections. Flavobacterium psychrophilum is the etiological agent of CWD.

Commercial poultry production is predominantly a vertically integrated system in North Carolina. Production companies (integrators) contract with growers to produce birds or eggs. In general, the integrator supplies birds and feed, and often supplies supplemental materials such as medications, pesticides, etc. The integrator is also responsible for hatchery management, transport, slaughter, and marketing. The grower builds and maintains the houses, installs and maintains equipment, handles daily flock management, and disposes of dead birds and waste....

The best breed of waterfowl to raise depends on several factors, including the reason for raising them and the amount of space available. Ducks are small and require less space than geese. However, they need a year round grain supplement and are more prone to predators. Geese require twice as much space as ducks, but do well on limited grain when they have plenty of grazing space. They are seldom bothered by predators. Some waterfowl are raised for meat. They can be purchased from a commercial hatchery or local feed store. Duck breeds favored for meat production...

GOOD PRACTICES IN SMALL SCALE POULTRY PRODUCTION: A manual for trainers and producers in East Africa
An additional element in the prevention of introduction and spread of disease is the use of vaccination. The manual does not cover this aspect but the importance of an appropriate vaccination strategy is acknowledged, and vaccination as a possible risk management measure should form part of the overall biosecurity assessment and strategy. The purpose of the manual is to establish a minimum set of biosecurity guidelines, applicable to all poultry producers (including ratites) from hatcheries to the point of delivery at the processor.

Commercial hatcheries concentrate their efforts on maximum hatching of fertile eggs and on marketing viable chicks adapted to customer requirements. Environmental conditions for incubation are controlled automatically and are safeguarded by supplementary mechanisms activated in case of unexpected malfunction or disruption of energy sources. High standards of sanitation are essential for the production of high-quality chicks. Generally, economic interests of industrial hatcheries favour the best care of marketable chicks, as this has an influence on the birds’ future performance.

A modern hatchery for clams (M. lyrata) spat production has been established at the Aquaculture Research Institute of the North Central Division (ARSINC) with all necessary infrastructure. A lot of the success of oyster spats have been produced using these facilities. Hatcheries can be used for commercial production of both controversy and research and development.
