Land has always played a crucial role in life of human community and is basics to human existence and also a limited resource. It plays an important role as a financial asset. Investment in infrastructure development such as airport, road, railways, hydropower, irrigation and town development for public purpose is very important for the development of any country and any infrastructure development needs a huge quantity of land. The first step towards the public infrastructure development is the acquisition of land.

Front line demonstration is an effective and appropriate tool to demonstrate recommended technologies among the farmers. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, JAU, Amreli conducted 30 demonstrations on castor during 2015-16 to 2017-18 in the villages of Amreli district. The study found, the yield of castor in IT under irrigated conditions ranges from 25.70 to 27.85 q/ha whereas in FP it ranges between 19.45 to 22.31 q/ha. The per cent increase in yield with IP over FP was recorded in the range of 18.5 to 32.1%. The extension gap and technological index were ranging from 4.1 to 6.3 q/ha and 2.2 to 4.

Groundwater is an important source for irrigation in large tracks of India. This source has been considered as infinite and used indiscriminately without any disregard to recharge prospects. Reducing the over exploitation of ground water and its optimal utilization for irrigation is the need of the hour especially in low rainfall areas.

The ecosystem of the lake is under threat due to the rise in human population density leading to intensive irrigation, farming, land subdivision, and intensive use of agro- chemicals and deforestation around the lake. The growth of the township has also led to more runoff, siltation and nutrients being discharged into the lake via inflowing rivers and drainage channels along roads and the other infrastructure. Inadequately treated effluents from the ton's sewage treatment plan are also finding their way into the lake.

Both sides are right to some extent. But these simplifications- and the resulting polarised debate- do not get us very far. Yet we all share the objective of reducing poverty in a lasting manner, and there is nowadays wide agreement in the development community that the environment is crucial for the sustaining of livelihoods.

In response to climate change, many countries are likely to invest in even more infrastructure for coastal defenses and flood control to reduce the vulnerability of human settlements to climate change. Increased water shortages will increase demand for new irrigation facilities and new reservoirs. Similarly, natural ecosystems can reduce vulnerability to natural hazards and extreme climatic events and complement, or substitute for, more expensive infrastructure investments to protect coastal and riverine settlements.
