Copper (II) and Cobalt (II) metal complexes (4a- and 4b-complexes) using Schiff base ligand 1-[(4- butylphenyl)imino]methyl naphthalen-2-ol (3) have been synthesized. The single crystals of Copper (II) and Cobalt (II) complex phosphors were grown and characterized by Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR), single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and EDS (Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy).

A total of 368 dogs brought to the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Guwahati, Assam, India were screened for tuberculosis using tuberculin skin test (TST) technique and out of which a total of 6 dogs each from both the reactor and non-reactor group were included for the study. Hemogram of tuberculin positive reactors revealed significant (P≤0.05) reduction in Hb, PCV, TEC, TLC, neutrophils and MCHC when compared to tuberculin negative reactors. Alterations in biochemical parameters included significant (P≤0.

A solid acid membranes based on poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA), sodium bromide (NaBr) and phosphoric acid (H3PO4) were prepared by a solution casting method. The morphological, IR, electrical and optical properties of the (PVA)0.7(NaBr)0.3(H3PO4)xM solid acid membranes where x = 0.00, 0.85, 1.7, 3.4, 5.1 M were investigated. The variation of film morphology was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies. FTIR spectroscopy has been used to characterize the structure of polymer and confirms the complexation of phosphoric acid with host polymeric matrix.

The aims of the study were to examine (1) effect of high P contents on the correlation coefficient between absorbance and P concentration, (2) effects of time duration including storage time and duration since addition of colordeveloping reagent, and (3) effects of the presences of silicate, nitrite, and chromium on P absorbance of the UV-Vis at 882-nm wavelength.

Galactokinase (EC 2.7.1.6) catalyzes the first committed step in the catabolism of galactose. The sugar is phosphor-ylated at position 1 at the expense of ATP. Lack of fully functional galactokinase is one cause of the inherited disease galactosemia, the main clinical manifestation of which is early onset cataracts. Human galactokinase (GALK1) was expressed in and purified fromEscherichia coli. The recom-binant enzyme was both soluble and active.
