In agricultural pest management, botanical pesticides are most suitable for use in organic food (agricultural) production due to their safety to humans and the environment compared to conventional pesticides. Compounds of plant origin can be highly effective, with diverse and multiple mechanisms of action, and with low toxicity towards non-target organisms.

Nutraceutical is one of the new concepts appearing in recent years, referring to food products derived from natural sources that benefit human health in preventing and treating diseases, besides providing nutritional value. During the development of these products, it is important to evaluate the toxicity and bioactivity of potential compounds and to study the mechanism of action of these nutraceutical compounds at the cellular and molecular levels.

To investigate the effect of systemic lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on function of hippocampus and corpus callosum (CC) in adult rats. Methods: Adult rats with mature white matter tract were divided into systemic LPS and saline injection groups. Animal were euthanized following 3 daily injections (day 3) and 3-day after cessation of injections (day 6).

Coriander is an annual seed spice crop, which belongs to family Apiaceae. It is native of Mediterranean region. The aromatic characters of plants are due to presence of linalool compound in essential oil of seeds. The green leaves of coriander are used in salads and are a good source of vitamin A and vitamin C. Major active constituents of coriander essential oils and fatty oil. The essential oil content of the weight of ripe and a dried fruit of coriander varies between 0.03 and 2.6% and the content of fatty oil varies between 9.9 and 27.7%.

Piperine is a natural alkaloid with a wide range of biological functions. Natural phenolic compounds existed in many essential oils (EOs) are plant-derived aroma compounds with broad range of biological activities, however, their actions are slow, and they are typically unstable to light or heat, difficult to extract and so on.

Biosurfactants are surface active compounds released by microorganisms. There are several known microbe involve for the production of biosurfactants but exploration of potential biosurfactant producer is need of hours to accelerate its economic production for industrial use. These compounds are mainly classified according to their molecular weight, physico-chemical properties and mode of action. They are eco-friendly, easily biodegradable and non-toxic materials.

Phrenic nerve palsy (PNP) is still a cause for concern in Cryoballoon ablation (CBA) procedures. New surveillance techniques, such as invasive registration of the compound motor action potential (CMAP), have been thought to prevent the occurrence of PNP.

To evaluate the prognosis value of facial nerve conduction study in Bell’s palsy outcome. Subjects and methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study using electro diagnostic data and medical chart review on 29 patients diagnosed with Bell’s palsy in Department of Neurology, Military Hospital 103 from January 2017 to December 2017, were evaluated using the facial nerve grading system 2.0 (FNGS) during their initial visit and on day 20 and day 40. We performed facial nerve conduction studies (NCS) in the first 5 days and on the 20th day.

Bixa orellana commonly known as annatto is one of the oldest known natural dye yielding plants native to Central and South America. Various parts of annatto have been widely used in the traditional medical system for prevention and treatment of a wide number of health disorders. The plethora of traditional uses has encouraged researchers to identify and isolate phytochemicals from all parts of this plant.

Resistance of solid tumors to treatment is significantly attributed to pharmacokinetic reasons at both cellular and multi-cellular levels. Anticancer agent must be bio-available at the site of action in a cytotoxic concentration to exert its proposed activity. P-glycoprotein (P-gp) is a member of the ATP-dependent membrane transport proteins; it is known to pump substrates out of cells in ATP-dependent mechanism. The over-expression of P-gp in tumor cells reduces the intracellular drug concentrations, which decreases the cytotoxicity of a broad spectrum of antitumor drugs.

The effects of chronic neonatal denervation and a crush lesion on the regenerative capacity of sensory nerve fibers were studied in rats. After 50 weeks of postnatal denervation, the amplitudes of compound action potentials (CAPs) of Aαβ-, Aδ- and Cfibers were reduced to 14.3%, 18.2% and 37.4%, respectively (P < 0.005).

The transient receptor potential channel vanilloid receptor subunit 1 (TRPV1) is amolecular integrator of physical and chemical stimuli in the peripheral nociceptor terminals. TRPV1 is an ionotropic channel that plays a critical role in both thermal nociception and inflammatoryhyperalgesia. Structure–function relationships are providing fundamental insights of the modular architecture of this neuronal recep-tor.

Plants defend themselves from other organisms by elaborating bioactive chemical defences. This is the essential basis of the use of herbal medicines that still represents a major therapeutic resort for much of humanity However, at the outset, it must be stated that any plant that is not part of our evolved dietary cultures is potentially dangerous. Commercial herbal medicinal preparations approved by expert regulatory authorities have a significant place in mainstream conventional medicine and in complementary medicine.
