In this paper, a membership function of the form S-function is applied to improve the quality of extracted linguistic summaries. Besides, the applied algorithm is parallelized to reduce running time. The experimental results with the creep dataset have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This article is about quantification semantics of linguistic terms embedded in Complete Linear Hedge Algebras and a application in querying in the database having the linguistic terms. The calculation is done both to the language values and real numbers. Query results are quite reasonable.

Furthermore, experiments on the task of RE proved that data representation is one of the most influential factors to the model’s performance but still has many limitations. We propose a compositional embedding that combines several dominant linguistic as well as architectural features and dependency tree normalization techniques for generating rich representations for both words and dependency relations in the SDP

This thesis has achieved some following results: Research and analysis of interpretability are as a study of the relationship between RWS of linguistic expressions and computational semantics of computational expressions assigned to linguistic expressions. The schema proposal solves the problem of interpretability of the computational representation of liguistic frame of cognitive (LFoC).

This tutorial gives an introduction to the fundamentals of Chinese language processing for text processing. Today, more and more Chinese information are available in electronic form and over the internet. Computer processing of Chinese text requires the understanding of both the language itself and the technology to handle them. This tutorial is targeted for both Chinese linguists who are interested in computational linguistics and computer scientists who are interested in research on processing Chinese. ...

The nature and amount of information needed for learning a natural language, and the underlying mechanisms involved in this process, are the subject of much debate: is it possible to learn a language from usage data only, or some sort of innate knowledge and/or bias is needed to boost the process? This is a topic of interest to (psycho)linguists who study human language acquisition, as well as computational linguists who develop the knowledge sources necessary for largescale natural language processing systems. ...

Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139 A stemming algorithm, a procedure to reduce all words with the same stem to a common form, is useful in many areas of computational linguistics and information-retrieval work. While the form of the algorithm varies with its application, certain linguistic problems are common to any stemming procedure.

In the study of a previously unrecorded language, a taxonomy of the sound system is the most useful starting point for developing the phonological component of a grammar. If the linguist makes at least tentative assumptions about segmentation and fixes the limits of supposedly relevant contexts, a computer can approximate this taxonomy.

This paper discusses the task of formulating a model of linguistic performance and proposes an approach toward this goal that is oriented toward an embodiment of the model as a digital-computer program. The methodology of current linguistic theory is criticized for several of its features that render it inapplicable to a realistic model of performance, and remedies for these deficiencies are proposed.

This paper examines the theory of translation in Quine's Word and Object and attempts to show that it involves tacit appeal to a premise concerning a regularity in the behavior of bilinguals. The regularity is one whose existence is neither explained nor rendered probable by the theory.

A summary is presented of some results in the literature concerning the generative powers of various formal grammars. The relative generative powers are displayed graphically.I. Introduction Many forms of grammars have been proposed in the study of such related language problems as mechanical translation, computer languages, mathematical linguistics, and the more general characterizations of natural languages.

This paper describes a systematic investigation of the extent to which the part of speech of words can be identified from their prefixes and suffixes. The results indicate that it is possible to determine, with 95 per cent accuracy, the inclusive part of speech of an affixed word from a consideration of its prefixes, suffixes, and length.

The difficulties encountered in the field of machine translation are many. The areas of contact between meaning and the syntactic vehicle expressing it are refractory and pose a problem for linguistic computational research. An applied radical semantics offers some operational solutions for ambiguous syntactic situations. Subject identification within a twoplace predicate structure is presented as an illustration of the resolving power of applied radical semantics.
