Conception rates following breeding

The present study was conducted to compare the conception rates following breeding at foal heat versus induced heat in postpartum indigenous mares. Twenty mares with history of normal foaling and expulsion of placenta and occurrence of foal heat between 6-10 days after foaling were included in the study. These mares were subjected to transrectal ultrasonography during foal heat to record uterine oedema, accumulation of fluid and endometrial thickness.

World-over, for dairy economy, there is emphasis on one calf per year per cattle. Successful calving follows survival of the conceptus through embryonic and fetal development.

Number of estrus synchronization programmes is available in cattle with hormones combinations of PGF2α, Gonadotrophin Releasing hormone (GnRH), and Leutinizing Hormone (LH). Comparative study of different estrus synchronization protocols in Malnad Gidda cows was done in stall fed Malnad Gidda cattle. The study was conducted in stall fed cattle with repeat breeding.

A study was undertaken to compare the efficacy of combinations of different brands of herbal uterine cleansers, estrus inducers and mineral supplements in the treatment of repeat breeding water buffaloes. Thirty she-buffaloes with a history of repeat breeding were randomly assigned to either of five equal groups. Group T0 served as untreated control, Group T1 was treated with combination of Exapar bolus (M/s Ayurvet Limited, Baddi) and Janovacapsule (M/s Ayurvet Limited, Baddi).
