This paper presents an experimental study of corrosion-damaged reinforced concrete (RC) columns under eccentric compression. Three RC concrete column specimens, identical in geometry, reinforcing steel bars, and concrete mix, were fabricated. One undamaged control specimen served as the control group, while the other two column specimens underwent corrosion due to chloride ion exposure.

The purpose of this work is to offer a method for detecting structural damage utilizing the standardized index of the beam's deflection influence line difference as input data for the evaluation procedure. The displacement influence line used in the evaluation is calculated using the findings of the behavior analysis of the reinforced concrete beam's finite element model when subjected to a moving load.

In this paper, the implementation of the PZT interface technique for monitoring strand breakage in a prestressed concrete anchorage zone is presented. First, the fundamental of the PZT interface for impedance monitoring is briefly reviewed. Second, a FE (finite element) analysis of a multi-strand concrete anchorage equipped with an array of PZT interfaces is analyzed to obtain impedance signatures under a series of strand breakage events.

The numerical wedge splitting tests show that in the case of brittle materials, the lower post-failure stress limit defined in the concrete damaged plasticity model resulted in energy consumption for crack propagation exceeding the defined fracture energy (114% higher in the case of a brittleness number of 4.4).

Periodic structural health survey is an important task to ensure the safety and serviceability of buildings. This study aims at developing a computer vision tool to segment images capturing surface of reinforced concrete structures. The image processing technique of Gabor filter is used with k-Means clustering algorithm and principal component analysis to automatically segment damages on concrete surface including spall, crack, bughole, and stain.

In this paper, we develop a numerical approach to simulate the 2D complex damage and fracture process of quasi-brittle concrete materials. Based on the phase field theory for the case of elastic isotropic multicomponent materials and the generation process based upon Monte Carlo’s simulation method, we construct a numerical procedure to solve complex damage thermodynamic problems.

This study proposed a hybrid machine learning model which is based on k-nearest neighbors (KNN) and Bayesian optimization (BO), named as BOKNN, for predicting the local damages of reinforced concrete (RC) panels under missile impact loading. In the proposed BO-KNN, the hyperparameters of the KNN were optimized by using the BO which is a wellestablished optimization algorithm. Accordingly, the KNN was trained on an experimental dataset that consists of 254 impact tests to predict four levels (or classes) of damages including perforation, scabbing, penetration, and no damage.

This paper attempts to investigate whether environmental impacts, would increase or decrease with trade liberalization. Trade expansion, that is, Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between EU (European Union) and Indonesia causes environmental damage in Indonesia. Polymer cement mortar (PCM) is a widely used cementitious repairing material due to its considerable adhesive property with concrete. However, the polymers are sensitive to elevated temperatures. The behaviours of polymers and PCM at elevated temperatures (e.g., 60 °C) for short, moderate duration and cyclic conditions remain unknown and need to be explored. This work was aimed at studying the mechanical performance of PCM and PCM-concrete composites under the aforementioned exposure conditions.

Reinforced concrete structures are damaged by salt attack, concrete carbonation, and sulfate attack, etc. The expansion stress by the corrosion of reinforcing steel causes crack in the cover concrete. Patch repair method is commonly applied to deteriorated RC structures. Deterioration mechanism of a patch-repair method in reinforced concrete is investigated through the experiment and analysis. The repair material selected is polymer-modified cement mortar re-emulsified by polymer resin.

The paper deals with observing the behaviour of concrete composites with addition of fibres under ambient and elevated temperature with the aim to determine the mechanical properties of materials. The experimental tests were conducted on three selected concrete composites which differ in a type and content of fibrous reinforcement used. The experimental work carried out was divided into several phases. First of all it was necessary to leave the produced specimens aging and drying in order to minimize the risk of unexpected damage caused by concrete spalling during heating.
