Classifying pathogenicity of missense variants represents a major challenge in clinical practice during the diagnoses of rare and genetic heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). While orthologous gene conservation is commonly employed in variant annotation, approximately 80% of known disease-associated genes belong to gene families.

Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PANETs) are rare, slow growing cancers that often present with local and distant metastasis upon detection. PANETS contain distinct karyotypes, epigenetic dysregulation, and recurrent mutations in MEN1, ATRX, and DAXX (MAD+); however, the molecular basis of disease progression remains uncharacterized.

Wnt signaling is an evolutionarily conserved developmental pathway that is frequently hyperactivated in cancer. While multiple protein-coding genes regulated by Wnt signaling are known, the functional lncRNAs regulated by Wnt signaling have not been systematically characterized.

IL-4-driven alternative macrophage activation and proliferation are characteristic features of both antihelminthic immune responses and wound healing in contrast to classical macrophage activation, which primarily occurs during inflammatory responses.

Patterns in expression data conserved across multiple independent disease studies are likely to represent important molecular events underlying the disease. We present the INSPIRE method to infer modules of co-expressed genes and the dependencies among the modules from multiple expression datasets that may contain different sets of genes.

Cryopreservation of human cancers conserves tumour heterogeneity for singlecell multi-omics analysis
High throughput single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-Seq) has emerged as a powerful tool for exploring cellular heterogeneity among complex human cancers. scRNA-Seq studies using fresh human surgical tissue are logistically difficult, preclude histopathological triage of samples, and limit the ability to perform batch processing.

Tumor response to therapy is affected by both the cell types and the cell states present in the tumor microenvironment. This is true for many cancer treatments, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). While it is well-established that ICIs promote T cell activation, their broader impact on other intratumoral immune cells is unclear; this information is needed to identify new mechanisms of action and improve ICI efficacy.

Allotetraploid F1 hybrids (4nF1) (AABB, 4n = 148) were generated from the distant hybridization of Carassius auratus red var. (RCC) (AA, 2n = 100) (♀) × Megalobrama amblycephala (BSB) (BB, 2n = 48) (♂). It has been reported that Hox gene clusters are highly conserved among plants and vertebrates. In this study, we investigated the genomic organization of Hox gene clusters in the allotetraploid F1 hybrids and their parents to investigate the polyploidization process.

Head spot is one of the phenotypes identified in the KFRS4/Kyo rat strain. Although previous linkage analysis suggested that Ednrb, which is frequently involved in coat color variations in various animals, could be the gene responsible for this phenotype, no mutations have been identified in its coding region.

Multiple hypothesis testing is a pervasive problem in genomic data analysis. The conventional Bonferroni method which controls the family-wise error rate is conservative and with low power. The current paradigm is to control the false discovery rate.

Peroxidases (PODs) have various physiological and biochemical roles in plant growth, development and stress response. The POD genes were identified in various plant species, but in passion fruit has not yet been thoroughly characterized. Here, we discovered 30 putative POD genes from the genome of Passiflora edulis Sims. For further elucidation, comprehensive bioinformatics analysis was utilized to determine the physicochemical properties, gene organization, conserved motifs, gene duplication and phylogenetic relationships of PePOD genes.

Identification of selection signatures can provide a direct insight into the mechanism of artificial selection and allow further disclosure of the candidate genes related to the animals’ phenotypic variation. Domestication and subsequent long-time selection have resulted in extensive phenotypic changes in domestic pigs, involving a number of traits, like behavior, body composition, disease resistance, reproduction and coat color.

Heat shock proteins 90 (HSP90s) are a highly conserved protein family of cellular chaperones widely found in plants; they play a fundamental role in response to biotic and abiotic stresses. The genome-wide analysis of HSP90 gene family has been completed for some species; however, it has been rarely reported for the tobacco HSP90 genes.

Red deer with very pale coat colour are observed sporadically. In the red deer (Cervus elaphus) population of Reinhardswald in Germany, about 5% of animals have a white coat colour that is not associated with albinism. In order to facilitate the conservation of the animals, it should be determined whether and to what extent brown animals carry the white gene.
