This paper focused on evaluating those properties based on the data of acoustic emission and electrical contact voltage signal. Frictional experiments based on scratch test and pin-on-flat model were conducted with CrN coating, lubricant samples to obtain some experimental data, including contact pressure, friction force, friction coefficient, acoustic emission, and contact voltage.

Contact mechanics is a topic that performs the investigation of the deformation of solids that touch each other at one or more points. A principal distinction in contact mechanics is between stresses acting perpendicular to the contacting bodies' surfaces and stresses acting tangentially between the surfaces. This study focuses mainly on the normal stresses that are caused by applied forces.

This paper proposes a non-contact and non-destructive method to generate Lamb waves against a target structure using the impulse excitation force generated by laser-induced plasma (LIP). When a high power pulse laser is irradiated in air and its laser fluence exceeds 1015 W/m2, a plasma is formed.

This paper deals with the plane frictional contact problem for the microperiodic composite half-plane with slant layering. Problem was considered as a contact of a non-deformable punch pressed into the composite half-plane with normal and tangential forces at the state of limit equilibrium.

In this paper, we compare two types of commonly used wheel-track interaction models for wheel-rail impact problems, i.e., a beam and a continuum finite element model. We first reveal the differences between the impact forces predicted by the two models due to a typical rail squat using a time-frequency analysis.

This paper considers the problem of a low-velocity normal impact of a rigid cone-shaped upon a viscoelastic plate. The contact force is defined by the modified Hertz's contact law. Approximate solutions of the system of nonlinear integro-differential equations for the contact force and local indentation have been obtained.

The investigation analyzes effects of clearance size in revolute and spherical joints with clearance on rigid-flexible dynamic of a space slider crank mechanism by finite element method. The model of the mechanism was designed by Solidworks and then velocity, acceleration, displacement, stress and contact force were determined by finite element analysis of rigid-transient dynamic in ANSYS.

The purpose of this study is to construct a suitable contact algorithm for BSMPM and then use it to investigate the contact force caused by impact. Some numerical examples are presented in this paper, the impact of two circular elastic disks and the impact of a soft circular disk into a stiffer rectangular block. All the results of contact force obtained from this study are compared with finite element results and perform a good agreement, the energy conservation is also considered.

In this paper, a numerical Discrete Element Method (DEM) model was calibrated to investigate the transmission of force in granular media. To this aim, DEM simulation was performed for reproducing the behavior of a given granular material under uniform compression. The DEM model was validated by comparing the obtained shear stress/normal stress ratio with results published in the available literature. The network of contact forces was then computed, showing the arrangement of the material microstructure under applied loading...

Through International Labour Organization’s indicators of forced labour, author identifies some forms of violence towards female domestic workers in Ho Chi Minh City nowadays. There are different types of domestic work, but within the scope of research paper, the author will focus on two main groups of female domestic workers, i.e. domestic workers in private households and patient caretakers. They represent two different working environments, but have one thing in common, which is the higher frequency of contact with their employers compared to the other groups.

Population prevalence estimates by the World Health Organisation suggest that 1 in 160 children worldwide has an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Accessing respite care services for children with an ASD can often be a daunting and exhaustive process, with parents sometimes forced to access acute hospital services as an initial point of contact for respite care or in a crisis situation.

Based on the solutions of the contact problem, the moment of friction force is calculated from the initial gap between the blades and the thread, from the value of the spring tightness, from the parameters of the rigidity of the blade and the clamping spring. Finally, the value of the maximum friction torque that counteracts the self-unscrewing of the collet nut is evaluated, and some features of the threaded joint with the collet nut design are considered.

This paper investigates the application of proposed neural MIMO NARX model to a nonlinear 2-axes pneumatic artificial muscle (PAM) robot arm as to improve its performance in modeling and identification. The contact force variations and nonlinear coupling effects of both joints of the 2-axes PAM robot arm are modeled thoroughly through the novel dynamic inverse neural MIMO NARX model exploiting experimental input-output training data. For the first time, the dynamic neural inverse MIMO NARX Model of the 2-axes PAM robot arm has been investigated.

In this paper, forced convective condensation of water vapour on a horizontal flat plate was studied numerically by using ANSYS Fluent software. User-defined functions were developed and added to address the issue of film condensation at the surface of the flat plate. The model assumes that phase change occurs while a vapor-noncondensable gas mixture is in contact with the wall only. The condensation rate is obtained by requiring the condensate-gas interface to be impermeable to the non-condensable gas.

It was found that rGO were exfoliated and decorated homogeneously with CNF nanoparticles having diameters of 20 nm. The saturated magnetization (Ms) value was estimated to be 60 emu/g, remanences (Mr) and coercive forces (Hc) near to zero, indicating that obtained material is superparamagnetic. The pH effect, contact time and adsorption isotherms were examined in batch experiments. The adsorption isotherm agreed well with the Langmuir model, having a maximum adsorption capacity of 256 mg/g, at pH = 6, T = 298 K.
