This paper proposes a new method to improve the three-dimensional (3D) high precision optical surface measurement using a non-contact laser focusing probe. Herein, the displacement or the profile of the tested surface can be obtained by measuring the driving voltage curve to the piezoelectric translator's (PZT) expansion distance.

In this paper, a thin stearic acid (SA) film was deposited onto the polyurethane (PU) coatings with different concentrations of stearic acid in the ethanol (1 wt.%, 2 wt.% and 3 wt.%) by centrifuged technique. Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) and water contact angle (WCA) method were performed to characterize and evaluate the hydrophobic layer formed on the surface of the samples.

The operation of TENG depends on the effect of electric friction, which induces static electricity between two material surfaces when being in contact. In this paper, the fundamental theory, experiments, and applications of TENG are reviewed as a foundation of the energy for the new era.

The zinc borate nanoparticles (2ZnO.3B2O3.3H2O) were successfully prepared by precipitation reaction in aqueous solutions of borax and zinc sulfate using oleic acid as a surfactant. The structural, morphological characteristics and the wettability of the particle surface were studied through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the contact angle.

This paper focused on evaluating those properties based on the data of acoustic emission and electrical contact voltage signal. Frictional experiments based on scratch test and pin-on-flat model were conducted with CrN coating, lubricant samples to obtain some experimental data, including contact pressure, friction force, friction coefficient, acoustic emission, and contact voltage.

In this study, single-side polypyrrole (PPy) coated conductive stretchable polyurethane (PU) / PPy composite films were synthesized by chemical oxidative method in the acetonitrile (ACN)/H2 O interface as a new alternative to two-side coated PU films which have already reported in the literature. One surface of the PU film was contacted with aqueous Py solution and the other surface with cerium ammonium nitrate (CAN) solution in ACN, so that only one surface of the film was coated with PPy and the resulting composite was named PU/PPy (PUP).

Silicon (Si) is the most promising next-generation anode material for lithium-ion batteries. However, it often suffers from a fast capacity fading due to the large volume changes during the lithiation/delithiation resulting in electrical contact loss between different components of the anode and eventually in battery fading.

Contact mechanics is a topic that performs the investigation of the deformation of solids that touch each other at one or more points. A principal distinction in contact mechanics is between stresses acting perpendicular to the contacting bodies' surfaces and stresses acting tangentially between the surfaces. This study focuses mainly on the normal stresses that are caused by applied forces.

preading area through a 1.3 cm deep matrix was reduced with increased moisture content, densely packed matrixes, and higher viscosity oils. Initial contact angle (CA) measurements for all oils was typically lower on clay matrixes due to its sheet-like structure and high absorption capabilities. Individual droplet penetration took longer at lower MC in direct contradiction to bulk kinetics studies, suggesting different spreading behavior across the surface border.

Tetra–n-butylammonium bromide modified sugar beet pulp (TBAB–SBP) with good biosorption and regeneration potential was prepared for removal of dye from contaminated solutions. The decolorization performance of TBAB–SBP was investigated using Reactive Yellow 2 (RY2) as a model dye. The characterization of the modified biosorbent was investigated by IR, SEM, zeta potential, and BET surface area analysis to discuss the decolorization mechanism. The effects of initial pH, biosorbent amount, contact time, dye concentration, and flow rate on the treatment process were examined.

In this paper, we compare two types of commonly used wheel-track interaction models for wheel-rail impact problems, i.e., a beam and a continuum finite element model. We first reveal the differences between the impact forces predicted by the two models due to a typical rail squat using a time-frequency analysis.

A superhydrophobic high-density polyethylene (HDPE)/organoclay composite material with a water-static contact angle of ∼162◦ and low hysteresis (7◦) was prepared by a simple solution-intercalation technique. This onestep method consists of the insertion of organoclay, produced through cation exchange with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), in the polymer matrix at 120◦C in xylene. In this process, evaporation of the solvent and organoclay amount are key factors for the achievement of superhydrophobicity.

Superhydrophobic nanocomposite coatings for magnesium surfaces with remarkable corrosion resistance were fabricated by electrospinning in the presence of fluorosilane-functionalized silica (SiO2) nanoparticles. The effects of surface-modified silica (mod-SiO2) nanoparticles on the superhydrophobicity and corrosion resistance of polystyrene (PS)/mod-SiO2 fiber coatings were evaluated. The incorporation of the SiO2 nanoparticles endows PS fibers with rough surfaces exhibiting a water contact angle (WCA) of 165◦C.
