  • Ocean radiation monitoring and warning systems are essential in monitoring radioactive species' contamination levels in an oceanic environment and predicting the radioactive materials propagation caused by nuclear incidents in a marine area. Since the Fukushima nuclear disaster, different types of mobile radiation monitoring devices have been investigated based on modern technologies in electronic - communication.

  • Bacterial infections in medical devices and drug resistance of bacteria can cause chaos in the world due to loss of lives in addition to the cost of device revisions, quarantine, disinfection of infected areas, and patient treatment. Antibacterial coatings of essential oils on medical devices can prevent bacterial attachment and reduce costs. Linalool is an antibacterial constituent of essential oils.

  • In this study, 341 Bacillus sp. strains were isolated from agricultural soils of Turkey. The potent extracellular lipase producer was selected. It was identified by 16S rRNA, named as Bacillus cereus ATA179. Optimal nutritional and physical parameters for lipase production were determined. Sucrose as the carbon source, (NH4 )2 HPO4 as the nitrogen source, CaCl2 as the metal ion were obtained. The best results of physical parameters were stated at 45°C, pH 7.0, shaking rate 50 rpm, inoculation amount 7% and inoculum age 24 h.

  • One of the most prolific plants utilized in various applications is mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.). Rich in potent bioactive compounds, such as xanthones, mangosteen is known to possess pharmacologically important anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties. However, most previous reviews have only discussed the application of mangosteen in medicinal areas, yet more recent studies have diverged and valorized its usage in other scientific fields.

  • Laboratory coats (labcoats) made of cotton or synthetic fibres are commonly used in research laboratories and hospital departments where there is a risk of minor radioactive contamination. The conditions of the work, such as whether flammability needs to be considered, are a factor in the selection of the fabric. Short jackets and smocks do not protect the lower body. Full length coats need to be fully fastened to ensure that spills or splashes of radioactive substances do not contaminate personal clothing underneath.

  • Infection can spread through direct contact with an infected area of someone’s body or contact with contaminated hands or any substance or surface that holds infectious material (i.e., saliva, mucous, diaper changing table). Many objects can absorb, retain, and transport germs. In childcare settings, the surfaces of floors, activity and food tables, diaper changing tables, doorknobs, toilet room surfaces, toys, and fabric objects may have many germs on them if they are not properly cleaned and sanitized.

  • The hole closing reported in this letter is certainly not caused by deposition of carbon-rich material by the electron beam, a common phenomenon in electron microscopy. The observation that large pores expand is in direct contradiction with potential contamination growth. Secondly, electron-energy-loss spectra (EELS) locally obtained on the material that filled a nanopore clearly show the presence of silicon and oxygen, but the absence of any carbon (detection limit was less than 2%).
