Awake fiberoptic bronchoscopic tracheal intubation is usually regarded as an effective method in the management of predicted difficult airway. Hypoxia during awake nasal fiberoptic bronchoscopic intubation leads to discontinuation of the procedure, prolonged manipulation time and increased risk of severe complications.

Airway management is a part of routine anesthetic procedures; however, serious complications, including hypoxia and death, are known to occur in cases of difficult airways. Therefore, alternative techniques such as fiberoptic bronchoscope-assisted intubation (FOB intubation) should be considered, although this method requires more time and offers a limited visual field than does intubation with a direct laryngoscope.

An experiment was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design with an aim to investigate the effect of short term waterlogging on four popular Khariftomato cultivars of Odisha (Utkal Pallavi, Utkal Dipti, Utkal Kumari and Utkal Pragyan). 45 days old tomato plants were subjected to 15 cm of stagnant water for a period of 0,1,2 and 3 days. High survivability under 1 and 2 days of waterlogging were recorded in U.Kumari of about 80%and 60% respectively because of high adventitious root formation, whereas all the plants died under 3 days of waterlogging due to root hypoxia.

Desaturation during painless gastroscopy in aged patients leads to discontinuation of the procedure, prolonged manipulation time and increased risk of severe complications. An endoscopic nasal mask was designed to control hypoxia during the above procedures.

One feature of this model is that strokes develop spontaneously following severe hypertension (more than 150 mmHg). Therefore, in SHRSP, because strokes develop after the onset of elevated blood pressure, elevated blood pressure is considered to be the most critical factor for stroke induction. However, interestingly, the neuronal cells of this model exhibit a great vulnerability compared with normal control WKY/Izm rats during the reoxygenation conditions following hypoxia (Tagami et al., 1998; Yamagata et al., 2010c).
