Control of gene expression

There are many evidences showing the fact that some hard conditions from environment, namely abiotic stress, could make several significantly negative impacts on crop production. However, some plant species can overcome these bad situations by complicated mechanisms. This study has shown the result of the construction the recombinant vector carrying CodA gene which could encode an enzyme, named choline oxidase, and is controlled by Rd29A promoter.

We present an assay to experimentally test the regulatory effects of genetic variants within transcripts using CRISPR/ Cas9 followed by targeted sequencing. We applied the assay to 32 premature stop-gained variants across the genome and in two Mendelian disease genes, 33 putative causal variants of eQTLs, and 62 control variants in HEK293T cells, replicating a subset of variants in HeLa cells.

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified more than 100 genetic loci associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, the underlying biological mechanisms for many of these associations remain unknown. GWAS signals close to the glucokinase regulatory protein gene (GCKR) have been reported for lipid and glucose metabolism traits and the risk of T2D.

Ebook "Untranslated gene regions and other non-coding elements: Regulation of eukaryotic gene expression" pervasive transcription of complex genomes produces a variety of non-coding transcripts that interact with these regions and contribute to regulation. This book discusses recent insights into the regulatory roles of the untranslated gene regions and non-coding RNAs in the control of complex gene expression, as well as the implications of this in terms of organism complexity and evolution.

Breast cancer (BC) is one of the malignant diseases threatening the life and health of women worldwide. The CYP4B1 gene was abnormally expressed in BC and was associated with the prognosis of BC patients. This study aimed to explore the relationship between CYP4B1 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and BC risk in Chinese women.

Endocrine-resistant breast cancers have elevated expression of XBP1, where it drives endocrine resistance by controlling the expression of its target genes. Despite the in-depth understanding of the biological functions of XBP1 in ER-positive breast cancer, efectors of endocrine resistance downstream of XBP1 are poorly understood. The aim of this study was to identify the XBP1-regulated genes contributing to endocrine resistance in breast cancer.

Researchers have been exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying the control of periodontal ligament stem cell (PDLSC) osteogenic differentiation. Recently, long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs) were shown to function as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) to regulate the effect of microRNAs (miRNAs) on their target genes during cell differentiation.
