  • Biofilm is a large collection of colonies containing sessile bacteria which are adhered onto the surface and embedded in the self produced biopolymers such as Extracellular Polymeric Substances (EPS). The surface may be present either in soil or aquatic system as well as in any medical devices or living tissue. These polymeric substances form a cohesive network that interconnects and immobilizes the biofilm cells helping them in mechanical stability.

  • Biological control is considered as new efficient method that becomes widely used for controlling plant parasitic nematodes, as aim to decrease the extent of environment degradation and the effect of the excessive toxic nematicides. So, this study was done to investigate the role of some bacterial genera as biocontrol agent against Meloidogyne incognita.

  • Aquaculture products can harbor pathogenic bacteria which are part of the natural microflora of the environment. Feeding infected fish with antibiotic- medicated food is a general practice but has led to antibiotic resistance development in bacterial pathogen, resulting in a higher dose requirement for effective control, a matter of increasing public concern. Resistance of pathogens to antibiotics occurs due to the presence of β-lactamase enzyme, thereby resulting in Multiple Drug Resistance (MDR). These enzymes are present in Enterobacteriaceae such as E. coli.

  • Quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping is a highly effective approach for studying genetically complex forms of plant disease resistance. With QTL mapping, the roles of specific resistance loci can be described, race-specificity of partial resistance genes can be assessed and interactions between resistance genes, plant development and the environment can be analysed (Young, 1996). DNA markers tightly linked to quantitative resistance loci (QRLs) controlling QDR can be used for marker-assisted selection (MAS) to incorporate these valuable traits.

  • Stem rot of rice, caused by Sclerotia oryzae is a serious threat to rice production in India. Fungicides only provide limited control of this pathogen but also have ill effects on the environment. In an attempt to develop better integrated strategies for management of this disease, a field study was conducted during rabi 2017-18 to evaluate the strategies of integration of effective fungicide Hexaconazole (0.2 %) and the bacterial antagonistic isolate P.F-4 which were effective against S. oryzae in vitro studies.

  • Hospital environment is sometimes the reservoir of pathogens that can be passed on to patients in different ways. The emergence of multi-resistant bacteria aggravates this situation, especially in a context of very limited therapeutic options. The objective of this study was to identify the bacterial species present on the environmental surfaces of the Cotonou 5 Hospital in order to control the contamination and the spread of pathogens.

  • Tomato is one of the potential vegetable crops both under protected and open field conditions in mid hills of Himachal Pradesh. The production under protected as well as open conditions has suffered in mid hills of HP due to biotic and abiotic stresses. Among biotic stresses bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is the most devastating disease under protected as well as open field conditions in mid hills of HP which reduces tomato yield to very low levels.

  • A series of laboratory and greenhouse experiments were conducted at the Environment, Natural Resources and Desertification Research Institute (ENDRI), National Centre for Research (NCR) and College of Agricultural Studies, Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sudan, to examine the efficacy of the fungus Trichoderma harzianum, culture age, inoculum type, application time, fungal extract, compost and bacterial strain on Striga hermonthica germination and sorghum infestation. The highest significant (P≤0.05) inhibition on S. hermonthica germination was obtained at 10 days by T.

  • The analysis of flow and state interest are examples of perspectives where the individual is not seen as the center and origin of deeply engaging experience. Despite this shift in focus away from the individual and toward the environment, scholars in these areas should not be seen as occupying the same territory in the realm beyond rationality and control as the behaviorist camp. Instead, this new interactionism finds new ground by ...
