The study revealed that all the biological agents were found to have potential to increase significant plant growth in terms of number of leaves and plant biomass. The maximum number of leaves per plant was recorded in P. chlamydosporia treated plants which was significantly different from untreated control followed by AM fungi and P. lilacinus. The maximum plant biomass (46%) was recorded in P. chlamydosporia and it was on par with AM fungi.

Our main aim is to lessen the pathogen density at below ETL (economic injury level). So, it is crucial to conduct a study on the pathogen density levels against a susceptible host under controlled condition and it helps in the making proper decisions for the integrated management of pathogen. Keeping this in view an experiment was carried out on pathogenicity of M. incognita on chickpea.

Root-knot nematode caused by Meloidogyne incognita is the major constraints in production of tomato and other solanaceous crops. Nematode diseases have been controlled more recently by means of certain beneficial bacteria that are indigenous to the rhizosphere of plants. Among the PGPR, Bacillus spp. is very important bio-agent that has several benefits compared to other rhizobacteria. Biological control is free from residual and adverse environmental effects.

The interaction between root knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita and the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.lycopersici was studied on tomato cultivar Pusa Ruby under pot house conditions. The effect of the nematode in combination with the fungus enhanced the suppression of plant growth than that of the fungus alone. Inoculation of the nematode and fungus exhibited a synergistic effect on growth retardation of plants. Significant reduction in plant heights in pots with nematode alone (43.77 cm) and fungus alone (43.83 cm) were also recorded, as compared to un-inoculated control (56.23 cm).

Biological control is considered as new efficient method that becomes widely used for controlling plant parasitic nematodes, as aim to decrease the extent of environment degradation and the effect of the excessive toxic nematicides. So, this study was done to investigate the role of some bacterial genera as biocontrol agent against Meloidogyne incognita.

Root-knot nematode (RKN), Meloidogyne incognita considered as destructive pathogen to eggplant. Even though the chemical nematicides the effective option, more safety biological control methods are urgently required. Experiments were conducted to study the nematicidal potential of oleander (Nerium oleander) and fish waste (FW) in management of root-knot nematodes Meloidogyne incognita. Three concentrations of oleander dry Leaves(ODL),oleander fresh leaves(OFL) and fish waste(FW) were tested on egg hatching, larvae mortality and nematode management under greenhouse conditions.

The root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) is one of the important pathogen of Tomato plant in India. Pot experiments conducted for the evaluation of effect of Trichoderma species against root knot Nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) in Tomato. The results revealed that the Treatments T4proved to be the most effective treatment that showed better larval mortality (54.55% @24 hrs and 65.12% @48 hrs) and reduction in nematode population (113.33 %) and root gall/ root system(74.89%.

The nucleotide sequence of this gene showed 97% identity to its homolog in GenBank (ID: JK287445.1) used as the control strain in our research. To generate host-induced gene silencing constructs which can potentially silence the expression of Minc16281 gene, two artificial microRNAs were synthesized based on the miR319a structure of Arabidopsis thaliana and inserted into an expression vector in soybean.

Indigenous bioagents viz., Trichoderma harzianum, T. viride, Pachonia lecani with 2×106 cfu/g, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacilus subtilis with 1×108 cfu/g tested at 25, 50, 75 and 100 per cent concentrations after 24, 48 and 72 hours after inoculation. Carbofuran 3G was used as check and untreated (distilled water) used as control.

Two Bacillus spp. viz., B. pumilus-K-1 and B. megaterium-IIHR strains were tested under glasshouse as alone and in combination against M. incognita and R. solanacearum causing wilt complex in tomato. Combined application of B. pumilus-K-1 and B. megaterium-IIHR were found effective for the management of nematode bacterial wilt complex with the 50 per cent wilt incidence as compared to untreated control (100%).

The field experiments were conducted at Nematology field, ICR Farm, AAU., Jorhat during 2016 and 2017 to know the efficacy of bioagent, P. fluorescens and biofertilizer, Azotobacter sp. for that P. fluorescens and Azotobacter sp. were enriched in the substrates like farmyard manure, vermicompost and enriched compost. After enrichment of P. fluorescens and Azotobacter sp. were applied singly and in combination at the rate of 1% per hectare (ha). These treatments were compared with untreated control. It was recorded that the combined application of P. fluorescens and Azotobacter sp.

The root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita is a key pest on tomato cultivation throughout the world. Eco-friendly technique for the management of M. incognita on tomato is still lacking. Hence, studies were conducted to test the nematicidal potency of leaf extracts of asparagus, white hibiscus, jasmine and Ixora plants against M. incognita under in vitro and pot culture. Under in vitro condition juvenile mortality rate was higher (49.4-90.2%) in asparagus treatment where as mortality rate was lower in Ixora treatment (8.2-35.4%).
