The present study evaluated the effects of long-term tillage operation on soil physical properties and nutrient dynamics on surface soil. The soil samples were collected at 0 to 15cm soil depth profiles in the year of 2016 and 2017 from following treatment (T1) Conventional tillage, (T2) Conventional tillage with seeding by bullock drawn, (T3) Zero till seeding with bullock drawn, (T4) Conservation tillage seeding with country plough and (T5) Utera cropping (T5).

Low cost maize planting unit for conventional plough

Maize crop is an important food crop of the world. To fulfill the requirement of maize over increasing population researchers have to develop and promote technologies which can meet the requirement with reduced cost of cultivation. Sowing of maize is being carried out by different methods all over the world depending upon the soil and availability of sowing implements. Delay in sowing because of shortage of labour during season causes progressive decrease in yield. The area under maize crop may increase if sowing is mechanized.

Evaluation of soil health in short term organic vs conventional practices during paddy cultivation

Soil health indicators such as soil physico-chemical properties, total bacterial count, microbial enzyme activities were monitored at different crop growth stages (such as before ploughing, after transplantation (0 DAT), max tillering (45 DAT), flowering (60 DAT) and maturity (90 DAT) of rice variety Pusa Basmati 1. The treatment comprises green manure Sesbania rostrata and inorganic fertilizers for organic and conventional respectively. Moreover, field was cultivated with rice variety Pusa Basmati I.
