In study "Impacts of Gümüşhane cement dust emissions on soil elemental compositions", composite soil samples were taken from conventional tillage (CT), and notill (NT) managed fields under wheat-sugar beet (potato)-fallow cropping sequence. Soil samples were randomly collected from 0–30 cm depth in three replications and different distances (1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 km) from a cement plant.

The effect of tillage systems during the summer season of 2013 did not differ significantly due to studied soybean traits. During the winter season of 2013/2014, the results showed that, CA tillage system increased significantly all the studied wheat traits as compared with the other tillage systems

Conventional tillage and cereal-cereal cropping systems cause degradation of soil health and quality by depleting soil organic carbon as well as other nutrients. Therefore we studied the “Effect of long term zero tillage and different moisture regimes on soil organic carbon and its fractions in legume based cropping systems of northwestern Indo-Gangetic Plains”.

The use of resource management technologies such as zero tillage, which can affect the soil properties, can restore soil health that is degrading at a rapid pace due to intensive agriculture, inefficient and imbalanced use of fertilisers, high-yielding crops, the use of heavy machinery, excessive tillage, etc. The health of the soil can be measured by the capacity of microorganisms that can act as early warning signals. To improve soil quality, zero tillage is recommended globally and has significant effects on soil microbial communities.

The experiment was laid out in split plot design with two factors namely, tillage practices and different conservation farming split with three replications. The treatment consisted of three tillage practices viz. T1- Conventional tillage, T2 –Minimum tillage and T3 – Summer plouging and five conservation farming viz. C1-Opening conservation, C2- Intercropping with redgram, C3-Mulching, C4-Herbicide application, C5-Combination of all treatments (C1+C2+C3+C4). Observations of crops are analyzed in Split plot design having three replications.

Conventional tillage practices may adversely affect long-term soil productivity due to erosion and loss of organic matter in soils. Sustainable soil management can be practiced through conservation tillage (including no-tillage), high crop residue return, and crop rotation.

The conventional use of the same post-emergence herbicides repeatedly may result in poor management of the early weed flush in wheat under zero-tilled (ZT) condition. This may hasten development of herbicide resistant weeds as well. In this study, a possible weed management has been envisaged in ZT and conventional till (CT) wheat during 2013-14 and 2014-15 using tillage and weed control treatments. It was observed that ZT caused a considerable reduction in the population of narrow-leaved, broad-leaved and total weeds compared to CT.

Field studies were conducted on wheat at the PAU, Ludhiana during 2007- 08 to 2009-10. The results revealed that wheat sown with zero tillage and conventional tillage gave the equivalent yield but conventional tillage with crop residue gave the considerably higher yield as compared to the former methods of planting.

The review study indicate the plots under zero tillage with bed planting (ZT-B) and zero tillage with flat planting (ZT-F) had nearly 28 and 26% higher total SOC stock compared with conventional tillage and bed planting (CT-B) (∼5.5 Mg ha−1) in the 0–5 cm soil layer. Plots under ZT-B and ZT–F contained higher total SOC stocks in the 0–5 and 5–15 cm soil layers than CT- B plots.

Cereals are generally regarded as the “staff of life”. Wheat, rice and maize are the major cereals constituting the staple diet of the majority of the world population among which wheat is counted among the „big three‟ cereal crops. Zero tillage enables farmers to sow wheat in left optimum moisture with good germination capacity and increases soil aggregates due to minimal disturbance of soil structure/texture. The present experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2016-17 at agronomy farm of BAU, Sabour, Bihar.

The pesticide was applied as spot application in three different tillage with five different fertilizers regimes in five mustard cultivars (B- 54, ADV- 414, B- 9, Bullet, TBM- 204).

Sowing of wheat in left optimum moisture through zero tillage technology not only provides a good germination but also improves the soil fertility, soil physical properties and saves time hence increases net return on sustained basis. It causes minimal disturbance of soil structure and texture ultimately increases size of soil aggregates. In the present experimental study, genotypes and tillage effect was observed.

Rotavator is an efficient tillage implement used for rapid bed preparation and is an energy and time efficient equipment for different soils compared to all other conventional tillage implements. The primary cause that limits the persistence of rotavator is wear of its blades. This paper was undertaken to study the material composition and wear characteristics of austempered ductile iron third edition rotavator blades which were developed by austempering heat process done over cast iron.

Farmers‟ participatory demonstrations on jute cultivation using zero tillage (ZT) technology were conducted in West Bengal through standardized conservation agriculture (CA)-jute protocols developed jointly by Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT). The results of demonstration indicated a significant yield increase under ZT over conventional practices. On an average, an yield increase of 25.83-27.83% under zero tillage technology reflected the positive effect of demonstration over the existing practices.
