Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious disease of cloven hoofed animals caused by FMD virus classified under genus Apthovirus and Picornaviridae family. Monoclonal antibodies (mAb) to FMDV provides best tool for the development of reliable diagnostics and there is a need for the development of mAbs that specifically recognize either 146S or 12S for the quality control analysis of FMDV vaccines. In the present study, we developed mAbs specific to FMDV serotype O and characterized their specificity in recognition of 146S or 12S particles.

To some extent, you are always evaluating the executive director, via observation at formal and informal meetings, in conversations you have with other volunteers, do- nors, and stakeholders—basically, any time you hear something about the executive or the organization, you are making an assessment that reflects on the executive. However, such judgments are quite personal, subject to interpersonal chemistry, and resistant to hard data about organizational performance.

We investigate the verbal and nonverbal means for grounding, and propose a design for embodied conversational agents that relies on both kinds of signals to establish common ground in human-computer interaction. We analyzed eye gaze, head nods and attentional focus in the context of a direction-giving task. The distribution of nonverbal behaviors differed depending on the type of dialogue move being grounded, and the overall pattern reflected a monitoring of lack of negative feedback.

The Portuguese began exploring the west coast of Africa shortly before Christopher Columbus was born; and no sooner did they encounter negroes than they began to seize and carry them in captivity to Lisbon. The court chronicler Azurara set himself in 1452, at the command of Prince Henry, to record the valiant exploits of the negro-catchers. Reflecting the spirit of the time, he praised them as crusaders bringing savage heathen for conversion to civilization and christianity.

The ultrasonic transducer behaves as a ‘speaker’ in send mode (from 40 to 50 kHz). The electronics of the ultrasonic transducer produces electrical pulses to set the piezoceramic element in motion (conversion of electrical energy to mechanical energy). The piezoceramic element is located on the inside of the outer diaphragm. The outer diaphragm vibrates in line with the resonance frequency and produces ultrasonic waves. The short pulse sequences hit an obstacle and are bounced back (reflected).

This book came about during a conversation at an Association for Coaching event in London. Katherine Tulpa and I reflected on the need for a single guide to coaching practice that would bring current issues together. With the help of the back of an envelope and a delayed train from King’s Cross station this book moved from a vague conversation over coffee to a book proposal. The simple idea was to bring together the top English-speaking coaching writers to contribute to a single book.

The world knows an immense amount of suffering, much of it humanly inflicted and much of it humanly preventable. My book seeks to shed light on the moral dimensions of this fact. Ultimately, it aims to clarify the nature of the duty to relieve suffering, and to encourage reflection on the kinds of changes that would be necessary to bring our lives into adequate compliance with this duty. I have brooded on these matters for a long time.

The B2B Marketing community has been humbled by the recent recession. This economic crisis has forced marketers to operate with limited resources, while facing a need to produce a higher level of quality leads than ever before. Through budget cuts and increased expectations, the organizations that persevered were the ones who effectively applied the most efficient marketing tactics for every stage of the sales funnel, from lead generation to sales conversion, and then closed the loop with sound marketing analytics for continual improvement.

Peaks in the financial cycle are closely associated with systemic banking crises (henceforth “financial crises” for short). In the sample of seven industrialised countries noted above, all the financial crises with domestic origin (ie, those that do not stem from losses on cross- border exposures) occur at, or close to, the peak of the financial cycle. And the financial crises that occur away from peaks in domestic financial cycles reflect losses on exposures to foreign such cycles. Typical examples are the banking strains in Germany and Switzerland recently.

What is counselling psychology? This is a frequent question, both from those who are seeking to understand the work of counselling psychologists and at times from counselling psychologists themselves. In the course of undertaking and working on this project we have had many long conversations in which we sometimes could answer this question and at other times became confused or unconfident. This left us curious about the links between our experience and the field itself.

The starting point for this document was a review of literature on the creative sector and community change guided by Mark Stern and Susan Seifert from SIAP. Next, staff from TRF interviewed people involved in community development and cultural activity in Philadelphia and Baltimore, two cities that exemplify the plight of post-industrial urban centers. We then examined the arts and culture-related investments within TRF’s portfolio and reflected on how those investments relate to TRF’s model of investor-driven change. ...

Grasslands occur on every continent except Antarctica, and constitute about 34 percent of the global terrestrial carbon stock. Changes in grassland vegetation due to overgrazing, conversion to crop land, desertification, fire, fragmentation, and introduction of non‐native species affect their carbon storage capacity, and may in some cases even lead to grasslands becoming a net source of CO2. For example, they may lose 20 to 50 percent of their soil organic carbon content through cultivation, soil erosion, and land degradation.

Another new feature of the test is the "authentic language" used by the speakers. On past forms of the test, the speakers sounded like actors reading from a book. On the TOEFL iBT, the speakers sound more natural, like real professors giving classroom lectures or real students discussing campus situations. The new Audio Program for this Guide reflects these changes, and the lectures and conversations have the same feel as those used on the actual test
