To explore the outcome and prognostic factors between inv(16) and t(8;21) disrupt core binding factor (CBF) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Methods The clinical characteristic, probability of achieving complete remission (CR), overall survival (OS) and cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR) were compared between inv(16) and (8;21).

It has been observed that many transcription factors (TFs) can bind to different genomic loci depending on the cell type in which a TF is expressed in, even though the individual TF usually binds to the same core motif in different cell types. How a TF can bind to the genome in such a highly cell-type specific manner, is a critical research question. One hypothesis is that a TF requires co-binding of different TFs in different cell types.

CCD is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by haploinsufficiency of Runt related transcription factor (RUNX2) essential for osteoblast cell commitment and chondrocyte maturation. A mutation of the RUNX2 (Core Binding Factor-α1 gene located at chromosome 6p21) is usually caused CCD. In general, the estimated prevalence of CCD is under diagnosed because of the relative lack of medical complications in comparison to other skeletal dysplasias. No available data on the prevalence of CCD or its characterization in Saudi families.

The exon junction complex (EJC), which contains four core components, eukaryotic initiation factor 4AIII (eIF4AIII), MAGO/NASHI (MAGO), Y14/Tsunagi/RNA-binding protein 8A, and Barentsz/Metastatic lymph node 51, is formed in both nucleus and cytoplasm, and plays important roles in gene expression.

The D816V mutation of c-KIT can constitutively activate tyrosine kinase, thereby promote core binding factor acute myeloid leukemia (CBF-AML) cell proliferation and inhibit apoptosis. Previous studies have indicated similar proliferation and apoptosis between N822K and D816V mutations.

DRE (dehydration responsive element)/CRT (C-repeat) is a cis-acting element that involves in gene expression responsive to abiotic stress in higher plants. To date, all well known DREBP transcription factors in Arabidopsis, rice, maize and other plants regulate gene expression in response to drought, high-salt and cold stresses by binding specifically to DRE/CRT.

Selenoprotein P (SeP) is a plasma protein that contains up to 10 selenocysteine residues and accounts for about 50% of total selenium in human plasma. We have previously shown that SeP expression in the human liver cell line HepG2 is inhibited by transforming growth factor (TGF)-b1 on a transcriptional level. Smad proteins are the transcriptional mediators of TGF-b signalling and putative Smad-binding elements (SBE) comprising the core sequence CAGACA are present at two positions in the SeP promoter....

Serum response factor (SRF) is a MADS transcription factor that binds to the CArG box sequence of the serum response element (SRE). Through its binding to CArG sequences, SRF activates several muscle-specific genes as well as genes that respond to mitogens. The thermodynamic parameters of the interaction of core-SRF (the 124–245 fragment of serum response fac-tor) with specific oligonucleotides from c-fos anddesminpromoters, were determined by spectroscopy.

• Marketing requirements document (MRD). This is the busi- ness or marketing team’s analysis of the world. The goal is to explain what business opportunities exist and how a project can exploit those opportunities. In some organizations, this is a reference document to help decision makers in their think- ing. In other organizations, it is the core of project definition and everything that follows derives strongly from it. MRDs help to define the “what” of a project. • Vision/scope document.

Recently, the conserved human LINC⁄DREAM complex has been described as an important regulator of cell cycle genes. LINC consists of a core module that dynamically associates with E2F transcription factors, p130 and the B-MYB transcription factor in a cell cycle-dependent manner. In this study, we analyzed the evolutionary conserved LIN54 subunit of LINC.

Acetylation of the amino terminus of the core histones H3 and H4 induces an open chromatin conformation that promotes transcription initiation. Histone acetylases are components of coactivator complexes recruited to promoter/enhancer regions by sequence-specific transcription factors during the activation of genes (Fig. 80-4). Histone deacetylases (HDACs; at least 17 are encoded in the human genome) are recruited to genes by transcriptional repressors and prevent the initiation of gene transcription.
