We study the cascaded plasmon resonant field enhancement in core-shell nanoparticles using the coupled dipole method. It is found that internal field inside protein-conjugated gold nanoparticles remains constant for large wavelengths of light but is significantly enhanced at 5944 nm due to the screening from the protein shell.

Optical properties of protein-conjugated metallic nanowires are theoretically investigated based on the Mie theory and the core-shell model. Our numerical calculations show that optical spectra of protein-conjugated nanowires can have more a maximum compared to these nanowires without biomolecules.

Thiazolidinone derivatives show inhibitory activity (IC50) against the Toxoplasma gondii parasite, as well as high selectivity with high therapeutic index. To disclose the target proteins of the thiazolidinone core in this parasite, we explored in silico the active sites of different T. gondii proteins and estimated the binding-free energy of reported thiazolidinone molecules with inhibitory effect on invasion and replication of the parasite inside host cells.
