The present study investigates that the effect of three date of planting date 5th October, 20th October, 5th November and cultivars Nova Lux, White Prosperity, Rose Supreme, American Beauty and Big Time Supreme effect on Gladiolus hybrid characters like minimum days taken to sprouting of corms (9.65 days), maximum plant height (77.84 cm), number of leaves (8.70 per plant) were stimulated under 5 th November while the characters minimum days taken to spike emergence (68.48 days) and basal florets opening (79.04 days) and maximum length of spike (64.02 cm), number of florets (13.

The present work entitled as Effect of substitution of nutritional source through organics and bio-inputs on corm and cormel production in gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.) cv. American Beauty was carried out at the college farm, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Venkataramannagudem. The corm and cormel characters were significantly influenced by different nutritional sources.

A field experiment was conducted in order to examine the effect of different plant geometries and spacing between the pits on corm regeneration and yield. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with three replications at the Research Farm of Saffron Research Station, SKUAST-Kashmir, Pampore for 3 years viz., 2012-13, 2013-14 2014-15. The treatments consisted of three planting methods viz., 15 corms per pit (P1), 10 corms per pit (P2) and 5 corms per pit (P3) and two spacing from pit to pit viz., 30x20 cms (S1) and 25x10 cms (S2).

A study on the association of various morphological traits through correlation analysis in gladiolus (Gladiolus hybridus Hort.) showed that Number of spikes per plant had a significant and positive correlation with number of leaves, number of shoots and number of daughter corms per plant in genotypic level. Spike length exhibited positive and significant association with rachis length, number of florets vase life and number of cormels. Number of florets exerted a significant positive correlation with vase life at genotypic and phenotypic level.

The present investigation “Studies on the effect of biostimulants on growth and flowering of cut gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.) Cv. Arkaamar” was carried out at the Floricultural Research Station, Rajendranagar of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, Hyderabad during September 2017 to February, 2018. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design replicated thrice with eleven treatments. The results on vegetative parameters revealed that among different pre soaking and foliar sprays of bio stimulants at 30 and 45 days after corm sprouting.

Gladiolus is a very popular flowering plant grown for its elegant cut spike. Presently, the Gladiolus corms are planted manually which is time and labour intensive process. It also involves considerable amount of drudgery. Till date very little work on mechanized planting of corms has been reported. In order to carry out the panting operation in specific time and to mechanize this operation for Gladiolus crop, a cup-chain type metering mechanism was developed and its performance was evaluated in linear soil bin.

Gladiolus (Gladiolus hybrida) is an important ornamental plant cultivated world over for its attractive spikes. The commercial cultivation of Gladiolus is based on natural multiplication of corms and cormels. In vitro propagation techniques, is superior to conventional propagation and produces disease free plants in huge quantities. In vitro regeneration of gladiolus cultivars, Sylvia, White Prosperity and Amsterdam was achieved using shoot bud of cormels as an explant. Sylvia variety recorded the best for callus induction and regeneration than other two varieties.

A study was conducted with nine gladiolus genotypes namely Arka Aayush, Arka Amar, Arka Darshan, Arka Gold, Arka Kumkum, Pink Friendship, IIHRG-12, Gladiolus callianthus and Psittacinus hybrid for resistance against two geographically different isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. gladioli (FOG) i.e. FGS-SOL isolate and FOG IIHR-1 isolate. Pink Friendship recorded highest disease incidence (91.67 %) which was inoculated by FOG IIHR-1 isolate whereas no disease incidence was observed in inoculated plants of Psittacinus hybrid.

An experiment was conducted in factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) with three replications and twelve treatments. The allocation of treatments to the individual plots was done using random numbers in each replication. The corms were planted on 17 Oct. 2015. The treatments consisted of three various spacing i.e., 30cm x 30cm, 30cm x 15cm and 40 x 15 cm and four combination of fertilizers RDF 200:200:200, NPK 75% + FYM 25%, NPK 75% + GM25%, NPK 75% + VC25%.
