Coronary artery anomalies
-
Coronary artery anomalies are characterized by an abnormality in the course or origin of three main coronary arteries. There needs to be more scientific evidence to promptly treat coronary artery anomalies with poorly understood prognostic implications, especially anomalous aortic origin of the right coronary artery from the left coronary cusp.

Anomalous coronary artery origins are not common in routine clinical practice. The incidence of coronary anomalies in patients undergoing coronary angiography is less than 1%. The greatest challenges faced in the management are delays in identification and difficulty engaging the anomalous coronary artery. Operator experience in promptly identifying the anomaly and selection of the appropriate catheter is critical for successful intervention.

Advanced diagnostic systems and screening services for health care have made it possible to improve the detection of congenital cardiovascular abnormalities, including coronary artery variations. Many coronary artery fistulas are congenital, and this can also be reported in patients with normal heart anatomy.

Coronary arteriovenous fistulas and coronary cameral fistulas are rare anomalies that involve the abnormal communication between a coronary artery and a venous structure, such as a coronary vein or a right-sided cardiac chamber. Iatrogenic coronary arteriovenous fistulas and coronary cameral fistulas can be uncommon complications of coronary artery angiography and intervention.

Anomalous coronary artery from the opposite sinus (ACAOS) is an uncommon, yet highly variable anatomical abnormality. These coronary anatomy variants are often discovered incidentally during cardiac catheterization. These variants can be challenging intraoperatively and require adjustment by the operator.

Intra-atrial right coronary artery and anomalous origin of left circumflex artery found concurrently
Coronary artery anomalies (CAAs) are known to be anatomical aberrations in the origin and structure. Due to the diverse anatomical variants, surgeons and angiographers have struggled when faced with patients who have CAA.

To evaluate the imaging characteristics of coronary artery fistulas (CAFs) by multidetector computed tomography (MDCT). A prospective descriptivestudy from January 2019 to September 2020 enrolled 31 patients (11 males, mean age 56 years) detected CAFs on MDCT at Radiology Centre of Bach Mai hospital.

This study was conducted to describe the anatomical morphologies of the coronary arteries in Taussig-Bing heart anomaly. Methods: From January 2010 to December 2018, 72 consecutive patients underwent total correction for the Taussig Bing heart anomaly at Vietnam National Children's Hospital. The coronary artery morphology of this patient’s group was visually evaluated during arterial switch operations.

In both humans and animals, anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a rare congenital coronary artery anomaly. In veterinary medicine, ALCAPA is reported to be discovered only during autopsy or necropsy, and diagnostic methods and prognosis remain poorly understood in dogs.
