To present a rare case with thrombus resolved with dual antiplatelet in combination with acenocoumarol. Case presentation: A 35-year-old man with a history of cerebral venous thrombosis was admitted to our hospital for an acute myocardial inferior infarction. He underwent primary percutaneous intervention of the right coronary artery with proximal to distal stent placement.

Rotational atherectomy (RA) has been described in case reports to be effective in ablating under-expanded stents. We present a case of calcified bifurcation lesion percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), in which the branch stent protruding into main branch blocked the balloon getting through, and the following RA led to pericardial tamponade.

Acute, perioperative myocardial infarction (MI) from acute left internal mammary artery (LIMA) to left anterior descending (LAD) graft failure immediately following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery is associated with significantly increased in-hospital mortality. The leading etiology of such acute graft failure is acute thrombosis, dissection, spasm, anastomosis failure or no-reflow phenomenon.

With the advent of percutaneous coronary intervention, specifically the bare metal stent and subsequently, the drug-eluting stent, the scope of interventional cardiology has greatly increased. Aspirin, in combination with a thienopyridine is the present-day cornerstone of oral antiplatelet therapy after coronary artery stent placement

To compare the result and safety of the Axxess biolimus-eluting stent with the second-generation drug-eluting stent (DES) in the treatment of bifurcation lesions. The result and safety of the Axxess biolimus-eluting stent were better than DES in treating bifurcation lesions. The present study suggests that the Axxess stent may represent a valid alternative approach for treating bifurcation lesions.

Rivaroxaban, a direct factor Xa inhibitor, has seldom been used in patients with coronary artery disease. In this analysis, we aimed to systematically compare the efficacy and safety of rivaroxaban in addition to the anti-platelet regimen in patients with coronary artery disease.

In-stent restenosis (ISR) occurs due to proliferation and migration of smooth muscle cells from media to intima resulting in re-narrowing of the vessel lumen. This study aims to investigate changes in the three main KCa channels in response to stent implantation in porcine coronary arteries as their expression and function in ISR is yet to be defined. Twenty-eight days after stent implantation, immunofluorescent labelling with anti-desmin and anti-vWF confirm the presence of both endothelial and smooth muscle cells within the neointimal layer.

The latest diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in the management of coronary artery dis‐ ease by coronary artery bypass graft surgery and by percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting and in the interventional management of other atherosclerotic vascular disease have led to a reduction in cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. This book entitled Artery Bypass provides an excellent update on these advances which every physician seeing pa‐ tients with atherosclerotic vascular disease should be familiar with.

It is only 26 years since the first percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) was carried out by the pioneering Swiss radiologist, Andreas Greuntzig, heralding the dawn of interventional cardiology. In this short time, interventional cardiology has overcome many limitations and undergone major evolutionary changes—most notably the development of the coronary stent. Worldwide, many thousands of patients now safely undergo percutaneous coronary intervention every day, and the numbers continue to grow.

Historically, up to 5% of all myocardial infractions were associated with mechanical complications such free-wall rupture, papillary muscle rupture, and PI-VSD (Agnihotri, 2008). With current treatment algorithms that advocate early and aggressive attempts at revascularization of the acute ischemic myocardial – such as thrombolytic therapy, early percutanous interventions with coronary stenting (PCI), and, less frequently, emergent coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) – the overall incidence has dropped significantly.

Several studies have compared outcomes for coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), but most were done before the availability of stenting, which has revolutionized the latter approach. methods We used New York’s cardiac registries to identify 37,212 patients with multivessel disease who underwent CABG and 22,102 patients with multivessel disease who underwent PCI from January 1, 1997, to December 31, 2000.

Numerous studies have compared the outcomes of two competing interventions for multivessel coronary artery disease: coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG) and coronary stenting. However, little information has become available since the introduction of drug-eluting stents.
