  • In the paper "Thermal buckling of P-FGM sandwich beam with porous core on elastic foundation", a coupled effect of thermal and electrical loadings on the thermal buckling behavior of functionally graded material (FGM) sandwich beam resting on Pasternak foundation is investigated. The symmetric multi-layered beam consists of a foam core, two middle FGM layers, and two outer piezoelectric layers. It is assumed that the beam is subjected to a constant voltage and a uniform/linear temperature rise.

  • We study the cascaded plasmon resonant field enhancement in core-shell nanoparticles using the coupled dipole method. It is found that internal field inside protein-conjugated gold nanoparticles remains constant for large wavelengths of light but is significantly enhanced at 5944 nm due to the screening from the protein shell.

  • In this study, Bi0.5(Na1–xKx)0.5SnO3 (BNKS) ceramics (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4) were fabricated via ultrasound wave before milling. The time of ball milling decreased from 20 to 1 h. The X-ray diffraction patterns show that the BNKS has a single-phase structure.

  • A model of an ECE mechanism consisting of two reversible electrode reactions coupled by the kinetically controlled, second order, reversible chemical reaction is developed for the staircase cyclic voltammetry on the rotating disk electrode. The relationship between the limiting current of the second wave and the rate constant of chemical reaction is investigated. The concentration of electroinactive component of the forward reaction influences the half-wave potential of the first wave and the limiting current of the second wave.

  • This article considers the SU(2) gauge field coupled with the two Higgs fields. We obtain the non-Abelian solutions of the corresponding field equations. For the constant solution, the gauge field and the two Higgs fields correspond to unbroken local SU(2) symmetry at large distance.

  • Schiff base derivatives NBAR and NSAR were developed for selective detection of Al3+ in aqueous solution. UV-vis spectroscopic studies revealed that NBAR and NSAR showed marked sensitivity and selectivity to Al3+ in acetonitrile (ACN)/water (v/v, 1:1, pH 6.80). The NBAR and NSAR receptors bound Al3+ in a 2:1 stoichiometry with apparent binding constants 4.09 × 10 11 M−2 and 1.65 × 10 12 M−2, respectively. They also displayed distinct changes in color upon the alteration of free Al3+ levels in solution with reversible responses and showed little interference with other metal ions.

  • The paper aims at introducing an analysis of thin-walled functionally graded sandwich beams for general nonuniform quadrilateral cross-sections. Generally, the materials are assumed to be graded through the thickness following a predefined shape while Poisson’s ratio kept as a constant due to its less domination. The crosssection linearly varies from one end to another end of the beam.

  • Numerical results show that there exist quantum condensations of any component at appropriate regions of coupling constants corresponding to its positive effective chemistry potential, i.e. to its dynamic stability. In addition, the phase quantum transitions of both first and second order appear when the coupling constant changes.

  • The (1–x)BiFe0.91(Mn0.47Ti0.53)0.09O3–xBaTiO3 (BFMT–BT) lead-free ceramics have been fabricated by using the conventional solid-state reaction method. The phase structure of BFMT−BT investigated with X-ray diffraction shows a single perovskite phase. Although 20% mol of Bi2O3 was added into the raw materials in excess, the evaporation of Bi3+ ions during calcining and sintering processes is from 20 to 30% wt. relative to other elements. The effect of BaTiO3 content on the electrical properties of BFMT−BT ceramic was investigated.

  • In this paper, we studied the progression of shallow water waves relevant to the variable coefficient Korteweg–de Vries (vcKdV) equation. We investigated two kinds of cases: when the dispersion and nonlinearity coefficients are proportional, and when they are not linearly dependent. In the first case, it was shown that the progressive waves have some geometric structures as in the case of KdV equation with constant coefficients but the waves travel with time dependent speed. In the second case, the wave structure is maintained when the nonlinearity balances the dispersion.

  • The rate constant of the cross-coupling reaction could be increased up to 75 times using the micro reactor, as compared to the batch reaction. The deposition of magnesium species on the surface of the nickel silica catalyst still remains to be solved, while the problem is considerably less serious for the nickel resin catalyst used in the micro reactor system.

  • Many home computer users currently connect to the Inter- net through dial-up, ADSL, cable or other services that as- sign them new IP addresses constantly — anywhere from every couple of hours to every couple of days. This af- fects our estimation of number of hosts involved in each spam campaign. We correct this by estimating how “dy- namic” each IP address is, and compensate by “merging” some dynamic IP addresses with other IP addresses in the same spam campaign. The problem of IP dynamics was rst presented and studied in [18].
