Ebook "Porous organic frameworks: Design, synthesis and their advanced applications" describes the design, synthesis, characterization and applications of porous organic frameworks (POFs). Special emphasis is placed on the utilization of porous materials for CO2 capture and CH4 and H2 storage, which have promising potential for addressing the issues of environmental degradation and climate change. It also includes two chapters introducing the properties of POFs and defining the principles of synthesis, as well as a chapter dealing with post-modified POFs.

A classical density functional theory (cDFT) based on the PC-SAFT equation of state is proposed for the calculation of adsorption equilibria of pure substances and their mixtures in covalent organic frameworks (COFs).

Sorption of gases in micro- and mesoporous materials is typically interpreted on the basis of idealized structural models where real structure effects such as defects and disorder are absent. For covalent organic frameworks (COFs) significant discrepancies between measured and simulated adsorption isotherms are often reported but rarely traced back to their origins.

Flow-induced disturbances were applied during the synthesis of a naphthalene diimide covalent organic framework (NDI-COF), which resulted in different COF polymer networks. We discovered that a high intensity of stirring resulted in more aggregated structures on both the micro- and nano-length scale.

Carbohydrates are a class of large and diverse biomolecules, ranging from a simple monosaccharide to large multi-branching glycan structures. The covalent linkage of a carbohydrate to the nitrogen atom of an asparagine, a process referred to as N-linked glycosylation, plays an important role in the physiology of many living organisms.
