As biomarkers, microRNAs (miRNAs) are closely associated with the occurrence, progression, and prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the prognostic predictive value of miRNAs in NSCLC has rarely been explored. In this study, the value in prognosis prediction of NSCLC was mined based on data mining models using clinical data and plasma miRNAs biomarkers.

We propose DEGAS (Diagnostic Evidence GAuge of Single cells), a novel deep transfer learning framework, to transfer disease information from patients to cells. We call such transferrable information “impressions,” which allow individual cells to be associated with disease attributes like diagnosis, prognosis, and response to therapy.

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels and metabolic syndrome (MetS) are known to be associated with an increased incidence of different cancers. We aimed to evaluate the effect of MetS combined with high hs-CRP levels on the risk of primary liver cancer (PLC).

While PD-L1 expression and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are prognostic biomarkers for lung cancer, few studies have considered their interaction. We hypothesized that the product of PD-L1 expression (tumor proportion score) and the NLR (PD-L1×NLR) might be a postoperative prognostic marker refecting the immune microenvironment of lung cancer.

There is limited real-world evidence that describes patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) treated with the bortezomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone (VRd) triplet regimen. We evaluated patient characteristics and treatment outcomes among nontransplanted NDMM patients who received VRd as their first line of therapy (LOT) in US oncology practice settings.

The TROIKA trial established that HD201 and trastuzumab were equivalent in terms of primary end-points (total pathological complete response) following neoadjuvant treatment. The objective of the present analysis was to compare survival outcomes and final safety.

Recurrence and metastases are still frequent outcomes after initial tumour control in women diagnosed with breast cancer. Although therapies are selected based on tumour characteristics measured at baseline, prognostic biomarkers can identify those at risk of poor outcomes.

Visceral adiposity index (VAI) and a body shape index (ABSI) were newly developed indices for visceral fat mass. Whether they are superior to conventional obesity indices in predicting colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear.

The current National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines recommend that at least 16 lymph nodes should be examined for gastric cancer patients to reduce staging migration. However, there is still debate regarding the optimal management of examined lymph nodes (ELNs) for gastric cancer patients.

Heart failure (HF) is a severe clinical syndrome caused by diverse etiologies. Classically left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) has been used as a diagnostic marker as well as to subdivide HF into 3 groups (HFpEF, HFmEF and HFrEF).

A non-parametric approach for detecting gene-gene interactions associated with age-at-onset outcomes
Cox-regression-based methods have been commonly used for the analyses of survival outcomes, such as age-at-disease-onset. These methods generally assume the hazard functions are proportional among various risk groups. However, such an assumption may not be valid in genetic association studies, especially when complex interactions are involved. In addition, genetic association studies commonly adopt case-control designs.

The goal of this study was to evaluate efficacy and safety of 90Y radioembolization for neuroendocrine liver metastases (NELM) in a multicenter registry. Toxicities were reported using Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events v.5. Cox Proportional Hazards were calculated for pancreatic primary, performance status, extrahepatic disease at treatment, unilobar treatment, baseline ascites, and>25% tumor burden.

We collected information on patients with rectal adenocarcinoma in the United States from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and EndResults (SEER) database. We used this information to establish a model that combined deep learning with a multilayer neural network (the DeepSurv model) for predicting the survival rate of patients with rectal adenocarcinoma.

Although pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) rarely metastasizes to the skeleton, disseminated tumor cells have been detected in bone marrow samples from patients with this disease. The prognostic value of such findings is currently unclear. Thus, the current study aimed to clarify the prognostic information associated with disseminated tumor cell detection in samples from patients with PDAC.

The role of elevated pre-diagnostic C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations on mortality in individuals with colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. Methods: We investigated the association between pre-diagnostic high-sensitivity CRP concentrations and CRP genetic variation associated with circulating CRP and CRC-specific and all-cause mortality based on data from 1,235 individuals with CRC within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort using multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression.
