  • Ebook "Seed biology and yield of grain crops (2nd edition)" of an established title examines the determination of grain crop yield from a unique perspective, by concentrating on the influence of the seed itself. As the food supply for an expanding world population is based on grain crops harvested for their seeds, understanding the process of seed growth and its regulation is crucial to our efforts to increase production and meet the needs of that population.

  • Cytochrome P450 (P450) is a functionally diverse and multifamily class of enzymes which catalyses vast variety of biochemical reactions. P450 genes play regulatory role in growth, development and secondary metabolite biosynthesis. Solanum lycopersicum L. (Tomato) is an economically important crop plant and model system for various studies with massive genomic data.

  • Predictive models for the rice crop (Oryza sativa L.) of Chhattisgarh plain and its constituent districts have been made. Models have been fitted for the area, productivity and production of the crop separately for above region. Based on these models prediction of area productivity and production of rice have been made year wise between 1998-99 to 2013-14.

  • The major threat of the agricultural crop is the climate change, which grown globally in the subtropical and the tropical regions. Negative impact on the plant growth, development and the economic yield regarding climate change due to consequences of the draught stress. For the prediction of the climate change and occurrence of the draught many simulation models were recorded, it’s very necessary to improve the crop against the draught stress which ultimately limits the production and the productivity of the crop.

  • Temperature rise due to climate change is expected to change pathogenicity of the pathogen. Temperature has a significant influence on growth and sporulation of rice leaf blast pathogen (M. oryzae). Both growth and sporulation were increased up to a temperature (27°C) and declined further in response to increased or decreased with temperature (32°C and 22°C). Various components of rice blast infection observed maximum at 27°C (optimal temperature) compared to suboptimal (22°C) and supraoptimal (32°C) i.e.

  • Parameter estimation in statistical modelling plays a crucial role in the real world phenomena. Several alternative analyses may be required for the purpose. An attempt has been made in this paper to estimate the yield of wheat crop using principal components of the weather parameters spread over the crop growth period. Principal component analysis has been used for the purpose of developing zonal yield forecast models because of multicollinearity present among weather variables.

  • A wheat growth model that includes the direct responses of canopy photosynthesis and transpiration to elevated CO2, and the response of crop growth to water stress has been developed and tested. Sensitivity analyses show that different cultivars have quite different responses to changes in ambient air temperature, ambient CO2 concentration and rainfall. Because crops reach maturity earlier under higher temperature, an increase of 3 oC may not impose further water stress to growth of a wheat crop.
