Sugarcane aphid (Melanaphis sacchari) outbreaks in sorghum that were first reported in 2013 are now the most significant threat to this crop in all major sorghum production areas in the U.S. The outcomes of interactions between sugarcane aphid and sorghum and thus the severity of the outbreaks depend on sorghum genotype and potentially also on the phenology of sorghum.

Being a promising tropical woody oilseed crop, the evergreen and recurrent plants of Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia volubilis L.) has complex phenology and source–sink interactions. Carbon source–sink manipulations with control and two treatments (reduce source, ca. 10% mature leaf pruning; reduce sink, 10% fruitlet thinning) were conducted on 2.5-year-old field-grown P. volubilis plantation during the early-wet season in a seasonal tropical area.

Chilli is a very important vegetable crop and has a great demand in the processing industry and export market. Chilli crop is more responsive to fertilizer application. Application of fertilizers in excess not only causes environmental problems but also reduces nutrient use efficiency, increases the cost of production and reduces the benefit-cost ratio.

A field experiment was conducted at Udaipur during the 2019-20 Rabi season to assess the effect of sowing dates and varieties on phenology and agrometeorological indices of mustard. The experiment consisted of three dates of sowing (D1- 21st October, D2- 1 st November and D3- 16th November) as main plot treatments and sub-plot treatments consisted of five varieties (V1- Bio-902, V2- Giriraj, V3- RH-0749, V4- NRCHB-101 and V5- NRCDR-2) in a split plot design.

Apple being a temperate fruit is been widely grown under a large area in the Himalayan regions of India because of the favorable climatic conditions. Mountains are however amongst the most fragile experiencing extreme weather conditions, like rising temperature, uneven precipitation, spring hailstorms, and cold waves which severely affect the production of temperate crops.

For the utilization of lesser known jasmine species in crop improvement programmes or for other purposes such as commercial cultivation for its flowers or growing as garden plants, insight on floral biology of the species is an essential prerequisite. Characterization of phenology aids in identification of year-round cultivable species of jasmine promising blooming throughout the year.

Nigella (Nigella sativa L.) has been widely acknowledged for its immense medicinal properties in different medicinal systems. Recognizing the importance of the crop as a potential component in crop diversification in Coastal Humid Tropic of India, a systematic study on the effect of date of sowing and plant densities on growth, yield and quality of nigella was under taken during winter growing season (rabi).

An experiment was conducted at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to find out the appropriate planting method and optimum nitrogen level for enhancing the seed yield of fodder maize (Zea mays L.) variety J-1006. The experiment was conducted in strip plot design with three sowing methods viz. zero tillage (ZT), conventional tillage (CT) and bed planting (BP) in vertical strips and four nitrogen levels (0, 100, 125 and 150 kg N/ha) in horizontal strips.

The model performance in respect of phenology was good with error of ±5% for all the three cotton cultivars and growing environments. Also the model performance was within acceptable range of ±10.0% for LAI, seed cotton yield and biomass for all the cultivars and growing environments. But the model performance was not within acceptable range for the crop sown in 1st week of June.

The influence of two factors - "broomrape" and "soil type" on quantities of seven trophic groups of soil microorganisms (Autochthonous; Oligotrophic; Actinomycetes; Microscopic fungi; Ammonifying; Assimilating mineral nitrogen; Aerobic nitrogen-fixing bacteria of the genus Azotobacter) were determined. Soil samples for microbiological analysis were taken from the rhizosphere zone of plants in sunflower crops from two soil types (Haplic Vertisols and Chromic Cambisols), in phenological phases of sunflower and of broomrape - "flowering".

The crop phenology, growth and productivity are strongly influenced by changing the cropping season. The kharif (June-Oct.) is the major groundnut- growing season. The CGR is higher in kharif crop than rabi season crop, but the average per day dry matter production is similar in both the seasons. Flowering and fruiting, in groundnut, are of an indeterminate type, which generally has an effect on yield and quality. Ideal type of groundnut would be one that sets all its young fruits within 4-5 days and spends the rest of the growing season filling them.
