Salinity is one of the most devastating abiotic stresses limiting crop production. Considering this issue, a pot experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the boro season (2017-2018) using two rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties, namely BRRI dhan28 (salt sensitive) and BRRI dhan47 (salt tolerant), to assess the effects of varied salinity levels on the growth and the performance of the rice varieties under salt stress conditions.

The aim of this project was to select highly sensitive and specific aptamer capable of detecting Fusarium graminearum (Fg) and F. pseudograminearum (Fp) species. The aptamer-based testing allows early detection of fungal infection in the field. Fungi are known to change their activity and may often undergo genetic changes. The classic "gene for gene" theory explains the relationship between host plant cultivars and fungal pathogenic races.

Azospirillum is one of the versatile non-symbiotic, free living diazotrophic bacteria which appears to have a world-wide distribution and occurs in large number in the rhizosphere soil of a variety of grasses and cereals. The present study was carried out during Rabi and Kharif 2016-17 in the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Efforts were made to screen out the presence of Azospirillum in rhizosphere of various non-leguminous crops and to characterize the isolates on the basis of morphological and cultural behaviours.
