Many screening programs for colorectal cancer (CRC) use the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) to triage individuals for colonoscopy. Although these programs reduce CRC incidence and CRC-related mortality, the detection of advanced precursor lesions (advanced adenomas and advanced serrated polyps) by FIT could be improved. As an alternative for FIT, the antibody-based multitargetFIT (mtFIT) has been proposed.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is an aggressive human malignancy. Because of late diagnosis and recurrence of OSCC, the treatment of patients with OSCC is often ineffective. Thus, finding novel biomarkers of OSCC are essential. Here we derived a methylation marker by utilizing methylation microarray data and testing its capacity in cross-sectional study designed for OSCC detection and screening.

This study is a cross-sectional study aimed to assess the rate of occurrence of secondary occult hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in patients treated with the combination of sofosbuvir and daclatasvir. This study included 40 patients whose serum turned negative for HCV ribonucleic acid (HCV RNA) via real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) after 3 months of the treatment. Blood samples on EDTA were collected from the patients to detect HCV RNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).

Malaria is major public health issue and Ballari is an endemic area. Peripheral blood smear examination (PBS) is done routinely. However, PBS during febrile period is essential for demonstration of parasite. In most cases, sample collection during afebrile period or at inappropriate timings results in smear negative reports. Hence, rapid antigen detection tests would be ideal or can be a supportive test to early diagnosis of malaria.

Health care providers lacking proper diagnostic tools are usually unable to determine specific etiologies, often diagnosing patients with acute undifferentiated febrile illness (AUFI) presumptively based on clinical features and assumptions regarding circulating pathogens. Acute fever can be potentially fatal if the etiology is not recognized and treated appropriately. A cross-sectional study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital, Bengaluru, from July-December 2018. Blood was collected from patients with acute fever for peripheral smear, serological tests.

The drug resistance among the gram negative bacteria is present as a serious global problem. ESBLs and MBLs are the important members of beta-lactamases produced mainly by gram negative bacteria and are responsible for mediating resistance to extendedspectrum cephalosporins and carbapenem. These enzymes are commonly detected in the members of the Enterobacteriaceae like Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli. A cross-sectional study was conducted at Department of Microbiology, Santosh Medical College & Hospital Ghaziabad by using K. pneumoniae isolated from sputum samples.

The incidence of superficial mycoses has increased recently due to frequent usage of antibiotics and various immunosuppressive conditions. In the background of immunosuppression, detection of these agents becomes necessary for effective management and prevention of further invasions. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence and causative agents of superficial mycoses in order to provide early and efficient treatment. A cross-sectional study was conducted for 3 months (JuneAugust 2015) on patients with suspected superficial mycoses attending our Dermatology OPD.

Methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus is associated with multidrug resistance, an aggressive course, increased mortality and morbidity in both community and health care facilities. This cross sectional study was carried out in a 70 burn patients from May 2016 to July 2018 at DR.S.C.G.M.C, Nanded India. Swabs were taken and cultured for bacterial isolation and identification following standard operative procedures.

To investigate correlations between serum HBV RNA and HBV DNA level, ALT activity in naive patients with chronic hepatitis B and HBV-related cirrhosis. Subjects and methods: This cross-sectional study involved 39 chronic hepatitis B and 19 cirrhosis patients, aged 19 - 78 years. Serum samples at admission were used to quantify HBV RNA, HBV DNA level and ALT activity. Spearman’s correlation analysis was used for correlations of HBV RNA and HBV DNA level, ALT activity. For HBV RNA quantification, a specific real-time PCR technique was used with a lower limit of detection of 100 copies/mL.
