  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of crude and different solvent extract of Leaf of Lantana camara, an aggressive invasive weed against plant pathogenic fungi Colletorichum falcatum causing Red rot of sugarcane disease under in vitro conditions. Aqueous crude extract and solvent extracts such as extracts Methanol, Ethyl acetate, Chloroform were tested at 2mg/mL, 4mg/mL and 8mg/mL concentrations. Results revealed that all the 3 solvent extracts showed significant inhibition at higher concentrations when compared to the Standard Fluconazole (15μg/ml).

  • The present study was intended to delineate the Anti Helminthis activity of Ankolam leaf extract. The crude extract was obtained by the employment of Soxhlet extraction method. The extract was used to screen the antagonistic activity in vitro by taking Pheretima posthumous as the study subject. B y the employment of molecular sequencing the identity of plant was confirmed as Alangium salviifolium. The results obtained proved the capability of extract to down regulate the biological activities of subject. Mortality was induced by varying concentrations (100-1000 ppm/ml).

  • Bridelia micrantha commonly known as coastal golden leaf is a member of the family Phyllanthaceae. In preliminary studies, nine fractions, named F1- F9, were obtained by fractionating the crude methanol extract of the stem bark of Bridelia micrantha using column chromatographic techniques. The F6 fraction was found to be the most active when tested for the antibacterial activity. This study is thus aimed at investigating the effect of fractionation on antibacterial activity of F6 fraction.
