The present study investigates the synthesis and analysis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) intended for use in electronic devices. ZnO NPs with an average crystallite size of 33 nm and a hexagonal wurtzite structure were produced by the combustion process. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) revealed a densely packed, spherical morphology.

A Li-CuFe2O4 thin film has a well-defined nanocrystalline structure with a crystallite size of ~17 nm. The TEM and SEM images of the Li-CuFe2O4 thin film show a polyhedron shape of nanoparticles with uneven sizes, resulting in a significant change in its gas sensing characteristics such as sensitivity and sensor response.

The electric and magnetic properties of a lithium ferrite (LF) synthesized using the solid state reaction technique have been reported. The XRD studies reveal the cubic nature, from which the crystallite size and the lattice constant are determined to be 16.84 nm and 2.847 Å repectively. The FESEM confirms the coarseness in the samples with a low porosity.

The NiO thin films were prepared by the electron beam evaporation method using synthesized sintered targets. As-prepared films were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UVeVIS spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The thicker films were found to exhibit a well-defined structure and a well-developed crystallite size with greater transmittance modulation and durability.

In this study, an abundant and eco-friendly photocatalytic material, Fe2O3 particles were synthesized by sonochemical method. Morphological and microstructural investigations of synthesized undoped and Ni, Co-doped Fe2O3 particles were performed. The effect of particle morphology and microstructure on its photocatalytic performance was further investigated. Comparative studies for evaluating particle crystallite sizes were conducted by Williamson-Hall (W-H) method and modified Debye-Scherrer (MDS).

The as-deposited thin films were characterized by powdered X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy. Thin films of CdS deposited at low temperature (350◦C) consist of densely packed granular crystallites with an average size of ca. 150 nm, while at higher temperatures (400 and 450◦C) particles with varying sizes and mixed morphologies are observed. The ZnS thin films deposited at 400◦C showed rod-like structures, whereas dense globular-like structures were obtained at 450◦C.

ZnO powder was synthesized via a hydrothermally assisted sol-gel method. Synthesis variables including Znprecursor type, pH value, time, and temperature of hydrothermal treatment were analyzed using the Taguchi approach. The experimental procedures were defined based on the L9 array for four variables in three levels. The influences of those variables on the response parameters, i.e. crystallite size, crystallinity, band gap energy (Eg), and degradation constants (k), were evaluated. XRD results and Eg values showed that ZnO wurtzite appeared to be the only crystalline phase in the samples.

In this study, rhenium/rhenium oxide nanoparticles (Re/ReO3NPs) have been produced for the first time in ultrapure water by using Femtosecond Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquid (fsPLAL) method. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) measurements and results obtained for NPs show the existence of well-crystallized peaks and preferred phases. Re NPs have hexagonal structure while ReO3 NPs have the perovskite-like cubic crystal structures. The Re/ReO3 ratio is also determined to be 53/47 with ~ 20 nm crystallite size, while pure ReO3 crystallite sizes were measured to be ~ 25 nm.

The lattice parameter and cell volume are in resemblance trend with the variation of the dopant concentration. The similar trend is observed for the crystallite and particle size. The porosity and sintered density, however, vary in an opposite way with a variation of the dopant concentration. The same variation is found for the drift mobility and DC resistivity.

In this study we report the effect of sintering temperature on the low field magnetoresistance (LFMR) of La0,7Ca0,3MnO3 manganite synthesized through sol-gel technique. The La0,7Ca0,3MnO3 has been sintered at 600˚C, 700˚C, 800˚C, 900˚C and 1200˚C. The crystallite as well as particle size also show strong dependence on the sintering temperature. While the ferromagnetic – paramagnetic (FM-PM) transition temperature remains almost constant, the metal – insulation transition temperature drop gradual and the low field magnetoresistance (LFMR) increase with a decrease in grain size.

The differential thermal analysis of the quenched samples revealed decrease in the thermal effects by adding P2O5 and/or MnO2 to the base sample. The X-ray diffraction patterns show the development of nanometric magnetite crystals in a glassy matrix. Heat treatment at 800 C for 2 h, under reducing atmosphere, caused an increase in the amount of the crystallized magnetite with the appearance of minor hematite and Ca2SiO4. The transmission electron microscope revealed a crystallite size in the range 10–30 nm.

This work pointed out the preparation of a magnetic glass–ceramic in the system Fe2O3–ZnO–CaO–SiO2. The base composition was designed to crystallize about 60% magnetite. The influence of adding TiO2, Na2O and P2O5 separately or as mixtures was studied. The DTA of the glasses revealed a decrease in the thermal effects by adding P2O5, TiO2 and Na2O in an increasing order. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed the presence of nanometric magnetite crystals in a glassy matrix after cooling from the melting temperature.

The synthesis of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) by surfactant-assisted chemical reduction method was studied aiming to identify the content of PVP-surfactant corresponding to the size of copper particles. The crystallite size and phase of CuNPs were determined by Xray diffraction (XRD) analysis while transmission and scanning electron microscopy (TEM and SEM) were used to characterize the size of copper particles.
