Curative cancer chemotherapy

To establish a nomogram to predict the probability of survival of patients with stage II/III gastric cancer (GC) who received incomplete peri-operative adjuvant chemotherapy (PAC). The medical records of stage II/III GC patients who received curative resection and 1 to 5 cycles of PAC from two tertiary hospitals were retrospectively reviewed.

Chemotherapy is included in treatment regimens for many solid cancers, but when administered as a single agent it is rarely curative. The addition of immune checkpoint therapy to standard chemotherapy regimens has improved response rates and increased survival in some cancers.

Surgical resection of gallbladder cancer with negative margins is the only potentially curative therapy. Most patients with gallbladder cancer are diagnosed in an advanced stage and, despite the availability of several chemotherapies, the prognosis remains dismal.

For patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), the only potentially curative treatment is intensive chemotherapy (IC). This is highly toxic, particularly for patients>60 years, potentially leading to prolonged hospitalisations requiring intensive supportive care, and sometimes treatment-related death. This also results in extensive healthcare costs and negatively impacts quality of life (QoL).

For patients with oesophagogastric adenocarcinoma, surgery is the only curative option and despite the use of multimodality therapy, which combines it with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, more than 50% of patients will relapse and die. Many UK patients present with advanced disease which is already inoperable or metastatic at diagnosis.

We aim to identify the multifaceted risk factors that can affect the development of severe radiation pneumonitis (RP) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with curative high-dose radiotherapy with or without concurrent chemotherapy.

Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) is now well-accepted as standard for high-risk stage II and stage III colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, however the optimal time to initiate AC remains elusive.

Early-stage colorectal cancer had excellent outcomes after curative resection, typically. However, a per‑ plexing survival paradox between stage II and stage III was noted. This paradox could be influenced by the admin‑ istration of routine postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy and the presence of high-risk factors in stage II CRC.

The goal of therapy for many patients with advanced stage malignancies, including those with metastatic gastric and esophageal cancers, is to extend overall survival while also maintaining quality of life. After weighing the risks and benefts of treatment with palliative chemotherapy (PC) with non-curative intent, many patients decide to pursue treatment.

Despite advances in surgical techniques, long-term survival after esophagectomy for esophageal cancer remains unacceptably low, and more effective perioperative chemotherapy is expected. However, an important concern regarding the application of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy is treatment toxicity. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility of adjuvant chemotherapy with S-1 in patients after esophagectomy.

We aimed to investigate response and prognostic factors in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and compare the curative effects on patients who received different therapy regimens (including chemotherapy and chemotherapy combined with targeted drugs).

Adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) plays an important role in improving the survival of stage II-III colorectal cancer (CRC) patients after curative surgery. However, the prognostic role of irregular delay of ACT (IDacT) for these patients has been less studied.

According to current guidelines, treatment of patients with hepatic oligometastasis in pancreatic cancer is not reflected and systemic chemotherapy is recommended in those patients. Retrospective data suggest beneficial outcomes in patients with hepatic oligometastasis, though prospective data from clinical trials addressing this particular patient group is not available.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a serious health concern worldwide. Despite advances in diagnosis and treatment, about 15 to 30% of stage II CRC patients subjected to tumor resection with curative intent, develop disease relapse.

The peritoneum is one of the most frequent sites of recurrent gastric carcinoma after curative treatment, despite the administration of pre- and/or postoperative systemic chemotherapy. Indeed, the prognosis of peritoneal carcinomatosis from gastric carcinoma continues to be poor, with a median survival of less than one year with systemic chemotherapy.

In Europe, gastric cancer remains diagnosed at advanced stage (serosal and/or lymph node involvement). Despite curative management combining perioperative systemic chemotherapy and gastrectomy with D1-D2 lymph node dissection, 5-year survival rates of T3 and/or N + patients remain under 30%. More than 50% of recurrences are peritoneal and/or locoregional.

: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for 85% of lung cancers, and is the leading cause of cancer deaths. Radiation therapy (RT), alone or in combination with chemotherapy, is the standard of care for curative intent treatment of patients with locally advanced or inoperable NSCLC.
