  • In this study, the factors related to the veneer material and adhesive properties were fixed; however, working conditions and process parameters (impregnation, pre-drying, curing, gluing, hot press) could affect the performance of plywood. Therefore, the objective of this work is to investigate the influence of two different processes (with and without curing before gluing) on bonding quality of the treated beech plywood.

  • The cured tubers of variety Kufri Chipsona-4 were subjected to the sprout inhibiting treatment viz., hot water dip treatment (57.5±0.1 oC for 20 min) along with control and were packed in nylon mesh bags, MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) and vacuum packaging. The tubers were stored for 5 weeks at room temperature conditions (32±2oC; RH ~90%)and sampled at 7- day interval. A progressive increase in decay loss and shriveling of potato tubers was observed during storage. Hot water dip treated tubers showed significantly lower decay loss and shriveling than untreated tubers.

  • Bovine papillomatosis is the viral infection commonly affecting heifers and milch animals. Warts are usually found on the head, neck, shoulders and sensitive parts of body i.e. the vaginal mucosa. The present study was conducted on eight heifers having wart on different parts of body in an organized cattle farm. The major aim of the study was to determine the cure rate of papillomatosis in cattle after four weeks using different treatment regimen i.e. Thuja, Anthiomaline and prepared autogenous vaccine.

  • A field experiment was undertaken at Regional Agriculture Research Station, Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh during 2017-18 on vertisols under rainfed condition to find out the suitable method of planting to avoid water logging for higher cured leaf yield in bidi tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.). The treatments consisted of two planting methods (Ridge method and flat bed method) as one factor and four planting geometry (60 cm x 50 cm, 60 cm x 75 cm, 75 cm x 50 cm and 75 cm x 75 cm) as another factor in factorial randomized block design and replicated thrice.

  • The paper deals with the ethno-botanical studies of medicinal plants of some selected Zanskar valleys covering four villages Rangdum, Padum, Muney and Raru. Zanskar is one of the remote, under developed, hilly region and least populated valley of Ladakh. Because of its cold climatic condition and in accessibilities, the valley is cut off from rest of the world most of the time. Though the valley looks barren and lifeless still it represents a treasure house of diversity of plants with high medicinal, aromatic value and other useful properties like food, fodder, fuel and ritual purposes.

  • Hydration of ordinary Portland cement in the presence of two different types of superplasticizers namely sodium lignosulfonate (LS) and naphthalene sulfonate-formaldehyde condensate (NSF) was studied using different experimental techniques. Superplasticized ordinary Portland cement pastes were prepared using the values of standard water of consistency with different additions of each types of superplasticizers used. Pastes were hydrated for different time intervals under normal curing conditions.

  • In this study, the alkaline solutions (NaOH) with concentrations from 1M to 18M, red mud (RM) and silica fume (SF) were used as reactors in geopolymer reactions. RM contains 7.40% SiO2 and 13.65% Al2 O3 and SF has 94.50% SiO2 , but only the active oxides can participate in the geopolymer reactions. The activity of the oxides was investigated by determining the compressive strength of the samples under different curing conditions.

  • In this paper, methods of testing the drying shrinkage of concrete blocks are evaluated. Tests were done on blocks of differing strengths, suppliers and curing procedures. The shrinkage tests were carried out as recommended in ASTM C426 [1], using the whole block as specimens and with gauge discs attached to the sides. Three variations of this set-up were also tested: a face-shell prism cut from a whole block with gauge plugs attached to the sides, the same specimen with gauge discs attached to the top and bottom and whole blocks with gauge discs attached to the top and bottom.

  • The porosity and pore size distributions are pore structure parameters which have a direct effect on the permeability of cement paste as well as its durability. This paper is based on laboratory programs comparing the porosity, pore size distributions and water absorption with varying ageing processes of three commercial polymer-modified mortars (SBR, PAE and VAE) as well as unmodified conventional mortar mixes exposed to different curing conditions.

  • In this paper, the effect of mixing ratio of raw materials, curing temperature and time on geopolymerization between red mud and rice husk ash were investigated. The results showed that the optimum conditions were SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of 4 and Na2O/Al2O3 ratio of 2.0, curing temperature of 100 oC and curing time of 24 hours. The compressive strength, bulk density, total shrinkage of the obtained product were 22.8 MPa, 2.39 g.cm-3, 15 %, respectively that met requirement of unsintered bricks using for construction.

  • The major clinical symptom of parasitic gastroenteritis is severe diarrhoea. Diarrhoea may result from other causes such as sharp changes in diet, especially at the beginning of the rains. Parasitic gastroenteritis may, however, be linked to the rains through an upsurge in parasite burden at this time. In acute cases of diarrhoea, there is severe loss of body fluid and minerals resulting into rapid loss of body weight and condition. Parasitic diarrhoea can usually be cured by broad-spectrum anthelmintics used strategically.
