Blood pressure (BP) is an important and commonly used vital sign to monitor a patient’s health. Current methods for monitor blood pressure are unsuitable for continuous, uninterrupted measurement of blood pressure outside of a hospital setting as such methods are invasive and could pose risks if complications occur. This research has investigated the possibility of using two photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors to monitor a patient’s pulse at two sites; the ear and the finger.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is one of the most common vaginal infections in women of reproductive age. If not treated promptly, the disease can lead to serious complications affecting the fertility and long-term health of women. Research on BV requires effort from a variety of disciplines and its treatment can only be determined by coordinated actions in research and treatment. Currently, BV diagnostic methods are often based on culture techniques and Gram staining. However, molecular biology research is developing and has proved to more advantageous for identifying key pathogens.

Developing a reimbursement system for language services in Medicaid/CHIP has been expedited because these large programs have administratively determined reimbursement rules. For this reason, although language services for Medicaid/CHIP populations are reimbursed in Minnesota, no similar reimbursement process is required for commercial health plans, and establishing such a process is more complex because of the way health plans are paid. Currently, the expense of lan- guage services for commercially insured populations falls on providers.

Complications during pregnancy and childbirth are a leading cause of death and disability among women of reproductive age in developing countries, killing over half a million women in 2000 and causing disability and suffering among many millions more. In 2000, half of these deaths (251 000) occurred in Africa, about 48% (253 000) occurred in Asia, about 4% (22 000) in Latin America and the Caribbean, and less than 1% (2 500) in the more developed regions of the world. Universal access to reproductive health care, including family planning, is the starting point for maternal health.

Abstract Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a vascular vitreoretinopathy that affects infants with short gestational age and low birth-weight. The condition is a multifactorial disease and is clinically similar to familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR), which is a bilateral hereditary eye disorder affecting full-term infants. Both of them are characterized by the abnormal vessel growth in the vitreous that can lead to vitreoretinal traction, retinal detachment and other complications resulting in blindness.
