In this paper, the drilling tool integrating damping system is tested with Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA). The natural frequencies, the damping ratios, and mode shapes are detected. Through modal analysis testing the new damped drilling tool shows better damping ratio than the conventional tool.

Constrained minimal cut sets (cMCSs) have recently been introduced as a framework to enumerate minimal genetic intervention strategies for targeted optimization of metabolic networks. Two different algorithmic schemes (adapted Berge algorithm and binary integer programming) have been proposed to compute cMCSs from elementary modes. In this work our objective is to understand the failure behaviour of unreinforced masonry under in-plane cyclic loading. For this purpose we proposed a plasticity based interface model consists of a single yield surface criteria which is a direct extension of Mohr–Coulomb criteria with a tension cut and compression cap and a back stress vector is introduced as a mixed hardening law variable in the adopted yield surface to capture the unloading/reloading behaviour of masonry under cyclic loading.

Podcasts are entering their second decade. However, this article does not present a chronological narrative of this history or focus groups exploring their effectiveness. Instead, this paper probes the enlivening capacity of podcasting when inserted into the much wider discourse of sonic media. My research probes the impact on teaching and learning when cutting away four of our five senses to focus on auditory culture, sonic media, hearing and listening. This research shows the value of ‘blind listening,’ cutting away the eyes and visual literacy, to activate more complex modes of learning.

The research is implemented by the least squares experimental planning method to determine the experimental regression functions between technical parameters and output elements of the machining process.

This chapter presents basic knowledge on the special kind of the machining process in which a workpiece material hardened to 45–70 HRC hardness or more is machined with mixed ceramic or CBN tools. An extended comparison with finish grinding, as well with other abrasive finishing processes, is carried out. Specific cutting characteristics, including cutting forces, chip formation mechanisms and tool wear modes with relevant interface temperatures are discussed in terms of process conditions. Currently developing finite element (FE) and analytical modelling is overviewed.
