Cuttings in fig

Propagation of the fig tree predominately uses hardwood cuttings obtained from pruning stock plants. With a view to optimizing fig tree propagation, the effects of different growing conditions on the rooting of hardwood cuttings from the five varieties of fig were evaluated. An experiment was set up in a two factorial design, with two growing conditions (Open and Shade house) and different varieties (Poona, Deanna, Bellary, Dinakar, Conadria), 90days after starting the experiment, rooting, root length, survival percentage were all evaluated.

OL 12 is a single cut fodder variety released by State Variety Approval committee for general cultivation in Punjab state during the year 2018. This variety has been developed from the cross between Kent x OL 125 through pedigree method of selection. Its plants are tall with profuse tillering and leafy growth. The leaves are longer and broader (Fig. 1). The salient morphological characteristics of this variety are presented in Table 1. On an average, it attains plant height of 138 cm. It has higher leaf to stem ratio, stem thickness and bears more number of tillers per plant.

Fig fruit (Ficus carica) are the rich source of minerals, vitamins, and fiber. The moisture content of the ripen fig fruit is about 86 percent due to its high moisture content the fig fruit is readily prone to the attack of yeast and mould. In this study the fig fruit were cut in to slices and dehydrated by osmotic dehydration process. This process is preferred over others due to it is an energy intensive process with retention of initial fruit characteristics viz., aroma, texture, colour and nutritional composition.

The study was conducted at College Nursery, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, AAU, Anand to evaluate auxins on different types of stem cuttings. Two different auxins like IBA, NAA at 2000, 4000 and 6000 mg l-1 were applied to the hard and semi hard wood cuttings with control and absolute control.

The modular tooling concept was developed by cutting tool manufacturers from the long-standing tooling cartridges (Fig. 112 – indicates a typical self-contained cartridge), which had been previously available for many years. Possibly the first work of note on HSM was that of Salomon who ran a series of applied experiments from the period 1924 to 1931, when a German Patent was granted for this work. The Patent was founded upon a series of cutting speed curves plotted against machining temperatures for a range of materials (Fig. 214). Calculating sensitivity and specificity requires selection of a decision value for the test to define the threshold value at or above which the test is considered "positive." For any given test, as this cut point is moved to improve sensitivity, specificity typically falls and vice versa. This dynamic tradeoff between more accurate identification of subjects with disease versus those without disease is often displayed graphically as a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (Fig. 3-1). A straight line through a vertex of a triangle and the midpoint of the opposite side is called a median of the triangle (Fig. 3.2a). The three medians of a triangle intersect in a single point lying strictly inside the triangle, which is called the centroid or center of gravity of the triangle. This point cuts the medians in the ratio 2:1 (counting from the corresponding vertices).
