Zinc is required for plant growth, as an activator of several enzymes and is directly involved in the biosynthesis of growth regulators such as auxin which promotes production of more plant cells and biomass that will be stored in the plant organs especially in seeds and their deficiencies may be one of the important reasons of poor yields in light textured soils (Singh and Raj, 2001). Keeping this in view a study was conducted on effect of zinc and sulphur on growth and yields of clusterbean.

The cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L.Taub.) also known as Guar is one of the most important commercial crop and major source of guar gum. The clusterbean is affected by various fungal diseases. Among those dry root rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid., a soil borne, cosmopolitan fungus infecting cluster bean and more than 500 plant species. The first symptom of disease is yellowing of the leaves, dark lesion may be seen on the bark at the ground level, the basal stem & main root may show dry rot symptoms.

Forty five cluster bean genotypes (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub) were evaluated to find out the correlation and path analysis for vegetable pod yield and yield attributes during kharif 2018 at College of Horticulture, Anantharajupeta, Andhra Pradesh. Character association of the yield attributing traits revealed that fresh pod yield per plant had highly significant and positive association with pod length, number of pods per plant, number of pods per cluster, number of pod clusters per plant and number of branches per plant at maturity.

The present investigation was carried out during kharif season 2014 to assess the effect of different levels of phosphorus and sulphur on growth, yield attributes and yield. The experiment comprising 16 treatment combinations replicated three times, with four levels of phosphorus (Control, 20, 40 and 60 kg P2O5 ha-1 ) and four levels of sulphur (0, 15, 30 and 45 kg S ha-1 ), respectively.

A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy farm, S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner (Rajasthan) during kharif, 2015 on loamy sand soil. The twenty treatment combinations consisting of five clusterbean varieties (RGC-936, RGC-1017, RGC-1033, RGC-1002 and RGC-197) and four levels of molybdenum (control, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 kg Mo/ha) were tested in randomized block design with three replications. Results revealed that variety RGC-1033 proved significantly superior to RGC- 936, RGC-1017, RGC-1002 and RGC-197 in respect of total number and dry weight of nodules.

Cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L. Taub.), commonly known as Guar, has been cultivated in India since ancient times for human consumption and fodder purposes. It was observed that total cost, gross income, net income of cluster bean production per farm household found increased with increasing size of farm holding.

Cluster bean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub] popularly known as “Guar” is an important legume crop mainly grown under rain fed condition in arid and semi-regions of Rajasthan during kharif season. It is very hardy and drought tolerant crop. Its deep penetrating roots enable the plant to utilize available moisture more efficiently and thus offer better scope for rain fed cropping. It has high calorific and nutritive value and its seed contains 28-32% of gum.

Mutation breeding is one of the best ways to induce genetic variability within a crop species in a short period of time. It is equally a potentially powerful tool for cluster bean as other crops for genetic enrichment. The gamma radiation induced 190 M4 mutant lines of cluster bean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.] obtained from Centre for Biotechnological Research (CBR), Dept. of BCI, College of Horticulture, Bengaluru and which were used for the field experiment on spikelet sterility during kharif 2017 (June - November) at College of Horticulture, Mysore.

Result showed that the assessed technology of T3- Soil application of sulphur @ 40 kg per hectare recorded highest average grain yield (10.37 qtl/ha) and highest average net returns (Rs. 27,013 per ha) as compared to T2- Soil application of sulphur @ 20 kg per hectare and farmers practice. But T2- Soil application of sulphur @ 20 kg per hectare recorded highest average B: C ratio (3.

Clusterbean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub], is a drought resilient leguminous crop grown on sandy soils of arid and semi-arid regions. Clusterbean is infected by several fungal, bacterial and viral diseases but Alternaria blight disease caused by Alternaria cucumerina var. cyamopsidis (Rang. and Rao) considered as one of the most devastating diseases in the guar growing areas of Rajasthan.

Cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L.) is an important legume crop of India which can thrive well in adverse conditions. Despite of the fact that P is abundant in the soil it cannot be assessed by plants. Bacteria like rhizobium isolated from root nodules have potential to solublize the insoluble phosphorus. Thus, it plays a vital role in enhancing the phosphorus availability and overcoming phosphorus deficiency through its transformations into available form and thereby enhancing the agricultural productivity in a sustainable way.
