Cynopterus sphinx

Among the thousands of known caves of Vietnam, Tan Lap Cave is home to the largest aggregation of bats in the country. At least six species (Cynopterus sphinx, Rousettus leschenaulti, Myotis chinensis, Hipposideros pomona, Taphozous melanopogon, and Mops plicatus) inhabit the cave seasonally or all year round (Vu Dinh Thong, 2014).

Ly Son is a small but important archipelago of Vietnam. It contains different ecosystems ranging from urbanized to natural vegetation. However, little was known about bats and the general biodiversity of this archipelago. In August 2017 and May 2022, the author conducted a series of bat surveys throughout the archipelago.

We updated checklist on small mammals of Ngoc Son – Ngo Luong Nature Reserve (NS–NL NR), Hoa Binh province, lie in Pu Luong – Cuc Phuong limestone karst of the northern Vietnam. Based on the specimens in field survey combined with data from previous publications, 54 small mammal species in 10 families and 3 orders documented in this area.
