  • This study evaluated the distribution of HBV genotypes among serological positive patients of HBV infected patients in North zone of India. Samples were selected from HBsAg positive patient and tested for HBeAg. HBeAg positive patient were selected for HBV genotype. Genotype-D was the most prevalent. The present study did not find other genotype. Genotype D is the most prevalent in North India

  • Resistance to carbapenems are because of various mechanisms like mutations in the outer membrane proteins like Opr D causing decreased permeability of the drugs, the carbapenem hydrolyzing enzymes–carbapenemases and the efflux mechanisms. Carbapenem resistance was studied in 140 non-repeat clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a tertiary care hospital. Imipenem resistance was detected using Kirby Bauer’s standard disc diffusion method. MIC for Imipenem was detected in all resistant isolates using E-test strips.

  • In the present investigation, 235 quarter milk samples from 59 apparently healthy lactating buffaloes were collected to compare different diagnostic tests for detection of Sub-Clinical Mastitis (SCM) in Buffaloes. Out of 235 quarter milk samples, 17.02 per cent, 16.59 per cent, 16.17 per cent, 14.49 per cent, 14.46 per cent and 17.02 per cent quarters were tested positive for SCM by bromothymol blue (BTB) strip test, electrical conductivity (EC), California mastitis test (CMT), N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG-ase), Somatic cell count (SCC) and Cultural Examination, respectively.

  • The assessment of nature of gene effect for yield and its contributing traits and detection of epistasis in wheat was studied in five crosses involving seven parents through generation mean analysis. Scaling test and joint scaling test were showed significant for almost traits all crosses. Additive gene effects (d) were positively significant for days to maturity and tillers per plant in cross II; for seed per plant in cross IV.

  • Staphylococcus aureus is a versatile human pathogen causing infections ranging from relatively mild skin and soft tissue infection to life threatening sepsis, pneumonia and toxic shock syndrome. The increasing incidence of a variety of infections and, especially, the expanding role of community-associated methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA)--has led to emphasis on the need for safe and effective agents to treat both systemic and localized staphylococcal infections. Clindamycin is considered to be one of the alternative agents in these infections.

  • The present study aims at evaluating the efficacy of two rapid tools, IgM dot ELISA and Latex Agglutination Test employing recombinant LipL32 as antigen in diagnosing acute leptospirosis in dogs in Kerala, a disease endemic area. One hundred and five serum samples were collected from dogs presented at Veterinary Hospitals attached to Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University during the period from September 2014 to May 2016. Microscopic Agglutination test was carried out using the reference strains maintained in the Dept.

  • The term viral hepatitis refers to primary infection of liver by any one of the heterogeneous group of hepatitis virus which currently consists of types A, B, C, D, E and G Hepatitis virus infection occurs as an acute illness. HBsAg (Hepatitis B surface antigen) is the most common marker of infection, which is present in high concentrations in early acute infections and is continued to be produced in chronic disease. The present study is undertaken because there is paucity of data indicating prevalence of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C among pre-operative patients admitted in our hospital.

  • Aim of the study is to isolate and enumerate dermatophytes and other fungi from clinically suspected cases of Dermatomycoses, to co-relate the isolate and findings with clinical presentations and to analyse the Dermatophyte test medium for the growth of dermatophytes. Hundred (100) clinically suspected cases of dermatophytosis and dermatomycoses attending Dermatology O.P.D., was selected for the study including hair, skin and nail samples. It was a prospective and descriptive study.

  • Historically, S. aureus has been one of the most common pathogens which caused pyogenic local and systemic infections in both hospitals and community. Methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus is associated with multidrug resistance, an aggressive course, increased mortality and morbidity in both community and health care facilities. This cross sectional study was carried out in a 70 burn patients from May 2016 to July 2018 at DR.S.C.G.M.C, Nanded India. Swabs were taken and cultured for bacterial isolation and identification following standard operative procedures.

  • Update summarization is a new challenge in multi-document summarization focusing on summarizing a set of recent documents relatively to another set of earlier documents. We present an unsupervised probabilistic approach to model novelty in a document collection and apply it to the generation of update summaries. The new model, called D UAL S UM, results in the second or third position in terms of the ROUGE metrics when tuned for previous TAC competitions and tested on TAC-2011, being statistically indistinguishable from the winning system.

  • Thus in the Intermediate Accessible group of regions the largest share of population was in Above average regions, and overall 60% of the population was in “above average” or “Accumulating” regions. It is noticeable that this is the only D-P type in which a majority of the population was in regions in the positive performance types. In the Intermediate Remote category three-quarters of the population lived in Depleting or Below Average regions. However, as we have seen, relatively few regions are in this category.

  • Introduction In 1903 Voronoi [42] postulated the existence of explicit formulas for sums of the form (1.1) n≥1 an f (n) , for any “arithmetically interesting” sequence of coefficients (an )n≥1 and every f in a large class of test functions, including characteristic functions of bounded intervals. He actually established such a formula when an = d(n) is the number of positive divisors of n [43]. He also asserted a formula for (1.2) an = #{(a, b) ∈ Z2 | Q(a, b) = n} , where Q denotes a positive definite integral quadratic form [44]; ...

  • Rh System The Rh system is the second most important blood group system in pretransfusion testing. The Rh antigens are found on a 30- to 32-kDa RBC membrane protein that has no defined function. Although 40 different antigens in the Rh system have been described, five determinants account for the vast majority of phenotypes. The presence of the D antigen confers Rh "positivity," while persons who lack the D antigen are Rh negative. Two allelic antigen pairs, E/e and C/c, are also found on the Rh protein. The three Rh genes, E/e, D, and C/c, are arranged in tandem...
