Nanded district consists of 20 dairy cooperative societies out of which 4 dairy co-operative societies were selected purposively.   • This study assessed the empowerment of dairy women by developing an index by adopting a systematic procedure; seven dimensions under women empowerment were selected namely social, economic, psychological, cultural, political, legal and technological empowerment. The Normalised Rank Order Method was used for determining the scale values. These dimensions were ranked according to judges‟ perceived significance and proportions were calculated accordingly while determining the values for each, by Guilford table.

Several constraints are perceived and faced by dairy farmers during adoption of recommended dairy management practices. The aim of this study was to evaluate constraints faced by dairy farmers in co-operative. Present study was undertaken in Shivamrut Dudh Utpadak Sahakari Sangh Maryadit, Akluj dist.   • The present study was conducted to know the selective breeding, feeding and management practices followed by dairy farmers in Punjab. A total of 150 farmers were selected randomly and divided into three categories, small (n=48), medium (n=74) and large (n=28). With help of well-structured interview schedule and pretested questionnaire data were collected w.r.t. breeding, feeding and management practices being followed. The data revealed that the farmers offered 20-40 kg of green fodder and 2-5 kg of concentrate mixture to dairy animals, but only 23.

  • The study was conducted in Thoubal district of Manipur state with the overall objectives of the cost and return analysis, resource use efficiency, marketing efficiency and its problems during production and marketing. The research is based on the data collected by using proportionate sampling from a total of 100 dairy farm sample households comprising of 60 Crossbred and 40 Local cows. Net maintenance cost for a milking crossbred cow was Rs. 161.71 and for a milking local cow was Rs. 55.42 per day, respectively. Net return per day from a crossbred milking cow was Rs. 166.

  • Milk is the primary product produced and sold from dairy enterprises, but secondary revenue sources including cattle sales, cooperative dividends, and the value of manure are also available. In the ARMS data, the costs associated with these secondary items cannot be separated from those for milk. The Management Committee of Dairy Cooperative Societies passes a resolution related to: 1) willingness of Dairy Cooperative Societies to participate in the ration balanc- ing programme; 2) selection of the local resource person and sending him/her for the ration balancing programme training; and 3) starting the advisory services.
