The phytopatogen Claviceps paspali is the causal agent of Ergot disease in Paspalum spp., which includes highly productive forage grasses such as P. dilatatum. This disease impacts dairy and beef production by affecting seed quality and producing mycotoxins that can affect performance in feeding animals. The molecular basis of pathogenicity of C. paspali remains unknown, which makes it more difficult to find solutions for this problem. Secreted proteins are related to fungi virulence and can manipulate plant immunity acting on different subcellular localizations.

Strains of Lactobacillus paracasei are present in many diverse environments, including dairy and plant materials and the intestinal tracts of humans and animals. Their adaptation to various niches is correlated to intra-species diversity at the genomic and metabolic level. In this study, we compared the genome sequences of three L. paracasei strains isolated from mature Cheddar cheeses, two of which (DPC4206 and DPC4536) shared the same genomic fingerprint by PFGE, but demonstrated varying metabolic capabilities.

Azolla is a free floating, rapidly growing aquatic fern on water surface. It is one of the most nutritive aquatic plants, owing to its high protein and carotenoid contents and of generally good amino acid profile. Traditional supplements based on oilseed cakes are expensive and cannot fulfill the required nutrients to animals. Forage-based economical feeding strategies are required to reduce production cost of quality livestock products. Productivity of dairy animals largely depends of efficient feeding management.

They form a symbiotic relationship with the cyanobacterium Anabaena azollae, which fixes atmospheric nitrogen, giving the plant access to this essential nutrient. Azolla has been used successfully as a protein supplement to replace meal in diets for livestock. According to Ambade et al., (2010), milk yield was increased by 15 to 20% after feeding azolla in the diet of dairy cows.

Aerial biomass forms an essential ingredient of air. Air is one of the most essential requirements for the survival of mankind and other animals on this planet. The quality and composition of air change with the change in aerial biomass. Meteorological factors viz. temperature (T), relative humidity (RH) and rainfall (RF) affect the composition of air. Meteorological factors affect the health of people by changing the composition of air we breathe. A study was done to assess the impact of meteorological factors on aerial biomass and hence on health of the people.

Cassava (Manihot esculenta, crantz) is an important food crop for many tropical zones in the world such as Africa, Asia and Latin America. In Vietnam it is an annual plant with the purpose of obtaining its tuber as food and ranked as the third, food crop after the rice and maize. In recent years when rice production has been more than enough for the domestic food demand of the people, cassava has become a raw material as starch for the processing industry. In the country, there have appeared many agricultural zones where cassava is planted for starch production.

The first experiment was set up in a field of 500 m2 to determine the productivity and nutritional value of Hymenachne acutigluma and Paspalum atratum grasses planted on waterlogged soil. Results showed that two kinds of grasses were similar in biomass and nutritive values. The second experiment was conducted in an 800 m2 area, Paspalum grass was planted at different spacings in wet land of approximately 20 cm in depth. No significant differences were found on grass fresh and dry yield. The third study was carried out in dairy farms of Soctrang province for 64 days.

When breastfeeding is not possible, infants are fed formulas (IF) in which lipids are usually of plant origin. However, the use of dairy fat in combination with plant oils enables a lipid profile closer to breast milk in terms of fatty acid (FA) composition, triglyceride structure, polar lipids and cholesterol contents.
