The paper "Damage detection of cables in cable-stayed bridges using vibration data measured from climbing robot" presents a method for damage detection of bridge cables using the vibration signal coming from the sensor installed in the climbing robot. In this paper, the damage type of local reduction in diameter is considered. The climbing robot consisting of a body and three wheels connected to the body by three springs. The cable is considered as an axially loaded Euler beam. When there is no damage, the dynamic displacement of the robot is smooth and no distortion can be inspected.

Epigenetic characterization of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is an emerging approach for detecting and characterizing diseases such as cancer. We developed a strategy using nanopore-based single-molecule sequencing to measure cfDNA methylomes. In this paper, the implementation of the PZT interface technique for monitoring strand breakage in a prestressed concrete anchorage zone is presented. First, the fundamental of the PZT interface for impedance monitoring is briefly reviewed. Second, a FE (finite element) analysis of a multi-strand concrete anchorage equipped with an array of PZT interfaces is analyzed to obtain impedance signatures under a series of strand breakage events.

An explicit expression of natural frequencies through crack parameters is derived for multiple cracked beams with simply supported boundaries using the Rayleigh quotient. The obtained expression provides not only a simple tool for calculating natural frequencies of multiple cracked beams, but also allows employing the so-called crack scanning method for detecting multiple cracks in simply supported beams from measured natural frequencies.
