The widespread of hallux valgus surgery in a day care setting enhanced the role of regional anaesthesia in the last few years. Sciatic nerve block at popliteal fossa has been shown to provide safe and effective analgesia. Our purpose was to compare the success rate and performance time of popliteal block during resident’s training for regional anaesthesia by using nerve stimulation (NS) or combined nerve stimulation and ultrasound (NS + US).

The requirement of prolonged mechanical ventilation (PMV) is associated with increased medical care demand and expenses, high early and long-term mortality, and worse life quality. However, no study has assessed the prognostic factors associated with 1-year mortality among PMV patients, not less than 21 days after surgery. This study analyzed the predictors of 1-year mortality in patients requiring PMV in intensive care units (ICUs) after surgery.

Hip fracture patients are frail and have a high mortality. We investigated whether the introduction of fast track care reduced the 30-day mortality after hip fractures. Fast track hip fracture care is safe. However, we observed no statistically significant change in 30-day, 90-day or 1-year mortality after the introduction of fast track hip fracture care.

A 5 Year old bullock presented with the history of horn gore trauma on right flank region and not passed dung since last 5 days. On palpation intestinal loops were palpable like clumsy feel on right flank just beneath skin. With this we diagnosed tentatively the case as traumatic hernia. On exploration of right flank laparotomy confirmed muscle rupture and mild peritonitis. The rent was supported by outlay tethering of polypropylene mesh size 6”× 8”. The muscle and skin closed with simple interrupted pattern suture pattern.

Subjects (n = 82) were post-operative GI patients undergoing care by the Surgery department and Oncology and Palliative Care Department in Hanoi Medical Uninversity Hospital, from 2015 to 2016. The nutritional intake during the first 7 post-operative GI days, types, and routes of nutritional regimens, were assessed.

We located one study in health education that compared attention given to just text with attention given to text plus pictures. This study, by Delp and Jones [2], studied 234 patients coming to an emergency room with lacerations. After receiving treatment, but prior to discharge, patients were given printed instructions for caring for their wounds at home. Half were randomly given just text and the other half received the same text plus pictures that illustrated the information in the text. Fig. 1 shows examples of the text and pictures they used.

Several community health centers operate a PACE program, a home and community based service that allows severely disabled elders who are eligible for nursing home placement to remain in the community. PACE is usually based in adult day health centers and operates as a small Medicare Advantage capitated managed care plan at risk for providing all Medicare and Medicaid covered services including long term care and acute hospital care. Primary care services are also provided by the PACE program in a clinic setting utilizing employed or contracted medical providers.
