Days taken for first harvest

The present investigation was carried out at Main Experiment Station, Department of Vegetable Science, Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.) during summer season, to evaluate the available germplasms for yield and its component traits of 45 genotypes, with three replications in Randomized Block Design. The study revealed that the mean sum squares due to genotypes were significant for all the characters, though the wide range of genetic variability in the material.

An investigation was conducted to study the effect of different plant growth regulators on growth and flowering of cucumber cv. Malini under shade net conditions. The experiment was carried out with 10 treatments GA3 at 75, 150 and 250 ppm, Ethrel at 100, 200 and 300 ppm, Salicylic acid at 75, 150 and 250 ppm and control (water spray) in three replications. Twenty six genotypes of cluster bean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub] were evaluated to estimate variability, broad sense heritability and genetic advance for pod yield and related attributes, during Rabi 2017. High estimates of GCV and PCV were recorded for number of branches per plant, plant spread at final harvest, fresh pod yield per plant, pod yield per plot, pod yield per hectare, number of pods per cluster, TSS and protein.

Gladiolus (family Iridaceae) is one of the most important bulbous flower crops due to its long attractive spike with variety of colours, prolonged vase life and its ability to withstand long distance transportation. The role of growth regulators in growth & flowering of gladiolus has received considerable attention recently though very little work has been done on this aspect, hence the present study was under taken. The experiment was conducted in the experimental area of the Department of Horticulture consisting of four concentrations of GA3 (25, 50, 75, & 100 ppm).

Five strains of oyster mushroom were tested for various parameters such as spawn run days, pin head initiation days, days taken for first harvest, fruit body/bag, and average weight of fruit body, yield and biological efficiency. Results indicate that highest biological efficiency was recorded in strain R-13-13-05 (96.6 %) followed by strain R-13- 13-07 (75.3 %), R-13-13-03 (74.8 %) and R-51 (66.4 %), respectively, and Lowest BR was observed in strain R-13-13-04 (58.4 %) among all the tested strains.
