Using a risk stratification model to guide clinical practice often requires the choice of a cutoff—called the decision threshold—on the model’s output to trigger a subsequent action such as an electronic alert. Choosing this cutoff is not always straightforward.

Clinical prediction models providing binary categorizations for clinical decision support require the selection of a probability threshold, or “cutpoint,” to classify individuals. Existing cutpoint selection approaches typically optimize test-specific metrics, including sensitivity and specificity, but overlook the consequences of correct or incorrect classification.

One of the objectives of the EMPIR project 16ENV04 “Preparedness” is the harmonization of methodologies for the measurement of doses with passive dosimetry systems for environmental radiation monitoring in the aftermath of a nuclear or radiological event. In such cases, measurements are often performed at low radiation dose rates, close to the detection limit of the passive systems.

The decision thresholds that indicate the presence of artificial radioactivity are calculated for the count rates in the low energy region of the spectra, the man-made count rates and the ambient dose equivalent rates from the background flights performed at altitudes ranging between 10 m and 60 m.

In this paper, we aim to shorten this search time by introducing a few agents whose threshold increases faster than the normal one to achieve higher scalability of the BRT algorithm. The results show that the search time is reduced, and the variance is improved, especially under challenging problems where robots are required to make decisions out of a large number of options.

This paper proposed a robust regression model for simple decision making in smart indoor farms. In our proposal, there are several steps to ensure the time-series data set which collected from sensor nodes in smart indoor farms are expanded to its features into new data set. The step tries to maximize features, then high corelated features with outcome in new data set will be filtered with strong threshold value.

The intense ischemic pain of acute compartment syndrome can be difficult to discriminate from the pain related to an associated fracture. Lacking objective measures, the decision to perform fasciotomy is often only based on clinical findings and performed at a low threshold.

A better understanding of patients’ views on the benefit and burden obtained from palliative chemotherapy would facilitate shared decision making. We evaluated palliative cancer patients’ reported outcomes (PROs) for toxicity and investigated the survival threshold for which they would repeat chemotherapy (CTx).

The most effective way to combat b-thalassemias is to prevent the birth of children with thalassemia major. Therefore, a cost-effective screening method is essential to identify b-thalassemia traits (BTT) and differentiate normal individuals from carriers.

In the recent era of modern insecticides, indiscriminate use of pesticides according to calendar base schedules not only results in unnecessary expenditure but it also creates many secondary problems like pesticides resistance, disruption of agro-ecosystem and environmental pollution. Therefor use of Economic threshold level in which the population density at which control measures should be under taken to prevent an increasing pest population from to reaching the economic injury level.

This paper extends the work of Chen and Chang (2010) and attempts to present a model for the optimal investment threshold and the real option value under price uncertainty from a different aspect of entry probability. I measure a financing policy by the debt ratio, a weight for the proportion of funding by debt relative to funding by equity. The weight is exogenously embedded in the stochastic optimization of an investment opportunity under price uncertainty. An entry probability, indicating the likelihood of an investment action optimally taken at a future time instant, is derived.

Modelling volatility in financial asset prices is very important for investment decisions and risk management. It is known that, political risk has a negative effect on stock returns. Especially, markets in which political risk increased, investment decisions change based on the changes that occur in financial asset returns. On the other hand, investors react more to negative shocks than to positive shocks. In this context, for a healthy investment policy, it is very important to make decisions having regard to the variance breaks that occur because of the political risk.

The aim is to apply the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to analyze the key factors that influence investor decision to the Integrated Resort (IR) attractions in Taiwan. After first creating a hierarchical framework with four dimensions and fourteen factors based on the academic literature and consultation with scholars and IR experts, the AHP approach is utilized to assess key factors according to the results of an expert AHP questionnaire. The study results have shown that: (1) ‘Finance’ is the most important dimension when considering investment on IR.

Under uncertainty of exchange rate, we extend the build to order production model of Lin et al. (2002) by considering the export-oriented manufacturer to make decisions to switch production location freely between domestic and foreign ones. When we transfer the production location from domestic (foreign) to foreign (domestic), and the production location transferring cost and the drift of real exchange rate are both equal to zero, then the optimal entry and exit threshold value of Cobb-Douglas production function are equal, no matter whether we use real options or net present value method.

In this article, the authors present a new approach to the classification of land cover by using multi-temporal Sentinel-1A data. The experience data are single-pole (VV) in Interferometric Wide Swath mode (IW) collected from December 2014 to October 2015 along descending orbit over Hanoi, Vietnam. Decision tree method is applied base on analyzing threshold of standard deviation, mean backscatter value of land cover patterns, and combining double-crop rice classification image.

This paper presents results from experiments in automatic classification of animacy for Norwegian nouns using decision-tree classifiers. The method makes use of relative frequency measures for linguistically motivated morphosyntactic features extracted from an automatically annotated corpus of Norwegian. The classifiers are evaluated using leave-oneout training and testing and the initial results are promising (approaching 90% accuracy) for high frequency nouns, however deteriorate gradually as lower frequency nouns are classified.
