Decolorization of some dyes
-
The decolorization of azo dye C.I. reactive orange 16 (RO16) via ferrate(VI) and sono-ferrate(VI) methods, which is the combination of the ferrate(VI) oxidation method with sonication, has been achieved in the present study. The influences of some important operating parameters, which are the initial pH, the concentration of potassium ferrate(VI) (K2FeO4) and the RO16 dye, and ultrasonic density (for only the sono-ferrate(VI) method), on the color removal have been investigated.

This study was aimed to investigate the potential of single culture of fungi Aspergillus niger, to decolorize reactive dyes from synthetic solution. Different parameters such as pH, time, temperature, agitation rate and various carbon, nitrogen and inorganic salts source, were optimized for decolorization of reactive blue 19 and reactive black 5 dyes. Aspergillus niger showed maximum dye decolorization under optimum condition and found to be more efficient when added in the dye solution of pH 8 and 10 with agitation at 130 rpm and incubation time for 7 days with 25°C.

The present work was undertaken to obtain crude Peroxidase extract from radish to characterize it in terms of pH, temperature, number of times use and decolrization of some dyes. The results shows that peroxidase from radish gave highest specific activity 4391 U/mg, and potassium phosphate buffer (0.1 M, pH 7) was best extraction buffer for peroxidase extraction from radish with specific activity 4489 U/mg, while The highest specific activity was measured for crude extract at 1:2 ratio, it was 4479 U/mg protein.

Isolation and identification of the bacteria from textile effluent and evaluation of their ability to decolorize toxic sulfonated azo dye, Direct Red 81 were studied. A total of four bacterial strains were isolated from textile wastewater and their decolorizing activity was measured spectrophotometrically after incubation of the isolates for 24 h. in mineral salt medium modified with 100 ppm Direct Red 81 and supplemented with yeast extract. The bacterial strains were identified belonging to Raoultella planticola strain ALK314 (DR1), Klebsiella sp.

Phytoremediation is a low-cost and effective technology that removes pollutants, such as dye-containing effluents, from the environment through the use of plants. In the present study, the potential of Lemna minor L. for decolorization and degradation of the triarylmethane dye malachite green was investigated.
