Deep burn

This study aimed to investigate factors related to the onset of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in patients with severe burns at the (ICU), National Burn Hospital. Associate factors for VAP include burns surface area (r = 0.53; p = 0.0002), deep burns area (r = 0.5; p = 0.0005), burns prognosis index (r = 0.52; p = 0.0003), inhalation injury (r = 0.5; p = 0.0006) and deep burns on the back (r = 0.41; p = 0.006).

Head and neck tissue defects are frequently, especially deep and wide defects caused by burning. Choosing sufficient material is a big challenge for surgeons. Using double anterolateral thigh perforator flaps in chimeric type is a new method, a new idea with many advantages for providing large tissue volume to reconstruct extensive defects in face and head area.

To evaluate the flap thinning efficiency for expanding the deep inferior epigastric perforator flap. Subjects and methods: A clinical study was conducted on ten patients (two retrospectives and eight prospectives) with a diagnosis of a massive scar on the chin and neck postburn to cover the scars with a “thin” deep inferior epigastric perforator flap at the Plastic and Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery Centre, Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital, from April 2021 to December 2022.

The presentation "Biomass pollution basics" addresses the basics of biomass burning and introduces participants to the concept of incomplete combustion, the wide range of pollutants emitted from wood fires and stoves and typical pollutant concentrations. Two pollutants are of primary interest for both health effects and IAP monitoring: particulate matter (PM) and carbon monoxide (CO). Smaller particles (PM2.5 and PM1) are likely to be most harmful, as they penetrate deep into the human lung. Larger particles are more likely to get 'filtered' by the upper respiratory tract.
