The study will focus on monitoring defects and finding out the nature of these defects. Bulk GaN was irradiated by a 2 MeV electron beam at a fluence of 5×1016 cm2 and studied by deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS). After irradiation, a broad peak, including at least two traps, was detected. The trap D1 (EC −0.16 eV) observed from a broad peak is induced during the annealing process below 550K and completely annealed out at 550K after 10 hours.

This paper developed a model of the automatic defect sorting system to distinguish between qualified and defective products. By using image processing to detect the matching of captured images with the storage based samples, the system ensures products with different colours are correctly delivered to the designated box.

Superficial siderosis (SS) of the central nervous system (CNS) is a rare disease caused by repeated hemorrhages in the subarachnoid space. We describe surgical treatment of an SS case in which a dural defect with verrucous vegetation in the spinal canal was detected by intraoperative ultrasonography (US).

Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations frequently manifest with multisystem disease, including cardiomyopathy (CM). Various studies described mutations in protein-encoding mtDNA genes, such as cytochrome-b, manifesting with CM. A detailed clinical, biochemical, and molecular genetic analysis was performed in a 40-year-old male with dilated CM (DCM) to detect the underlying mtDNA defect.

The prevalence of moderate or complex (moderate-complex) congenital heart defects (CHDs) among adults is increasing due to improved survival, but many patients experience lapses in specialty care or their CHDs are undocumented in the medical system. There is, to date, no efficient approach to identify this population.

SEM and TEM were used to evaluate the surface morphology and microstructure of the fiber membrane. Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was used to detect drug release. A LIVE/DEAD Viability/Cytotoxicity Kit and fluorescence staining were used to detect cell morphology and activity. Alkaline phosphatase and calcium mineralization deposition were used to evaluate the osteoinductive activity of the scaffold. Dynamic mechanical analysis was used to determine the Young’s modulus, maximum load, and maximum elongation of the prepared scaffold.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques has been applied in the study of antiquities to check and detect the defects such as cracks, porosity, slag inclusion, lack of fusion, lack of penetration in welds, delamination of materials, ... without destroying them. When an X-ray generator is used for these tests, the image quality depends heavily on the ability of X-rays to penetrate through the imaging materials.

Periodic structural health survey is very crucial to guarantee the safety and serviceability of civil engineering structures. The study "Applications of Gaussian Steerable Filters in detecting structural damages" aims at developing a computer vision tool to detect defects on surface of civil engineering structures by means of Gaussian steerable filters. This tool has been developed with Visual C#. NET to facilitate its implementations. The developed software programs have been tested with images containing various defects such as crack, pothole, and spalling.

Defect detection is recognized to be the most integral criterion for the printed circuit boards (PCBs) quality in industrial manufacturing. The traditional PCB inspection methods have several disadvantages such as time-consuming, labor-intensive, environmental clutter - susceptibility, and inaccurate detection ability. This paper offers a deep learning method for PCB defect detection.

The experiments are conducted on irregular microscopic images (where variations in size and shape occur) in the binary classes of healthy and sick cases related to OPMD. The proposed framework achieves a higher accuracy rate for the detection as compared to other methods, and exhibits a detection strategy for other types of PCD in medical applications.

The aim of this study was to identify the first quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for WS as well as breast muscle yield (BMY) and meat quality traits using a genome-wide association study (GWAS). We took advantage of two divergent lines of chickens selected for meat quality through Pectoralis major ultimate pH (pHu) and which exhibit the muscular defect. An expression QTL (eQTL) detection was further performed for some candidate genes, either suggested by GWAS analysis or based on their biological function.

Reported birth prevalences of congenital limb defects (CLD) vary between countries: From 13/10,000 in Finland for the period 1964–1977 to 30.4/10,000 births in Scotland from 1964–1968. Epidemiological studies permit the timely detection of trends in CLD and of associations with other birth defects.

This paper proposes a detecting and evaluating corrugation defect method for high speed railway inspection system mainly based on histogram curves on both vertical and horizontal direction. The preliminary results achieved from the above analysis are combined in a single image to eliminate false positive defects and noises. The detected defects is last classified into two main categories to assess the level of danger of damage. Our experimentals achieved the precision of with-defect rail detection reaches 98.9% and the correct classification of defects is 97.5%.
